2028 Rankings Update: RB

As we get closer and closer to the start of the 2025 high school football season, we have begun a new round of rankings updates. The latest class to be updated in the state of Kentucky is the class of 2028. With these rankings being posted, I will be taking the next week to break these rankings down by position. After already covering the quarterbacks, here are our top running backs in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky.    [player_tooltip player_id='470192' first='Ashton' last='Taylor'] is a player who has been highly regarded on the camp and 7 on 7 circuit this summer. He is a very elusive ball carrier who has shown the quick cuts to make defenders miss and contact balance to break tackles without losing stride. Taylor has also shown the speed to run away from the defense on long runs once he hits the open field. Ashton currently holds offers from BYU, Arizona State, Sacramento State, Toledo, and Northern Arizona, and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop over the next few seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='1023199' first='Eli' last='Thomas'] burst onto the scene as a freshman, leading his team in rushing with 109 carries for 920 yards and 14 touchdowns in 12 games. Thomas has explosive speed which he uses to run away from the defense on long runs at any given moment. When defenders are able to catch up to him, he has shown the elusiveness to make them miss in the open field. Thomas has also proven to be a very reliable target in the passing game, catching 23 passes for 341 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman. Eli has received some college interest and I expect him recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his sophomore season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1069847' first='Kaiden' last='Gibson'] is another running back who impressed as a freshman, leading his team in rushing with 126 carries for 869 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games. Gibson is a very shifty ball carrier who has shown the ability to use quick jump cuts in the open field to make defenders miss with ease. He has also shown the burst of speed to break away on long runs once he hits the second level. Kaiden also caught eight passes for 92 yards and a freshman, and made an impact on defense, finishing the year with 46 tackles and one tackle for loss. Gibson doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to continue to keep an eye on over the next few years.     [player_tooltip player_id='1019701' first='Winston' last='Ford'] caught my attention at one of our camps this offseason and was equally impressive when watching his freshman year film. He is a downhill runner who uses his speed to burst through the running lane with a sense of urgency then run away from the defense on long runs. Ford has also shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Winston finished this past season with 39 carries for 254 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. He also caught five passes for 71 yards as a freshman. Ford doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on as his role continues to grow in the Pulaski County offense.     To wrap up our top five running backs in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='1593996' first='Antonio' last='Kinzer']. As a freshman, Kinzer ran the ball 84 times for 391 yards and three touchdowns. He has impressive vision as a ball carrier, showing the ability to let the running lane open up then use his speed to burst through it in a hurry once it opens. Once he hits the open field, he has shown the ability to either use his speed to run away from the defense or his strength/contact balance to break tackles and pick up extra yards. Kinzer should be a ball carrier for college coaches to keep a close eye on as he continues to develop over the next few years.
