As the month of July is coming to an end, the 2025 high school football season is quickly approaching. With that in mind, we are currently in another new round of rankings updates. The most recent class to be updated in the state of Kentucky is the class of 2027. After covering the top players at each position in the class, I wanted to take some time to cover some players outside the top five at the respective positions who saw their ranking climb in our recent update. With that being said, here are some notable stock risers in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky!

[player_tooltip player_id='463134' first='Maverick' last='Ashby'] has been on our radar for a while now and continued to impress as a sophomore. On offense, he is a very reliable back out of the backfield. He has the speed to burst through the running lane and break away on long runs at any given moment. When defenders are able to catch up to him, he has shown the elusiveness to make them miss. Ashby finished this past season with 73 carries for 452 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games. He also caught eight passes for 45 yards and made an impact on defense at corner, finishing his sophomore year with 41 tackles and five tackles for loss. Ashby currently holds offers from Yale, North Alabama, and Morehead Stats, and I expect more to come his way over the next two seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='734299' first='Gavyn' last='Combs'] had a breakout season as a sophomore. He lines up at defensive tackle/end where he is very impressive against the run. Combs explodes out of his stance and uses his speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles to get to the ball carrier with a sense of urgency. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable tackler in the open field, finishing last season with 84 tackles and eight tackles for loss in 12 games. He also finished his sophomore year with two sacks. Combs has received a strong amount of college interest and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='514005' first='Jaquise' last='Smith'] is another defensive lineman who stood out as a sophomore. Smith lines up at defensive tackle where he is a dominant run stopper. He does a great job of using his strength to fight straight through blocks on his way to the ball carrier. Smith has also shown the speed to shoot gaps and get into the backfield to make the tackle before the opposing offensive line has a chance to block him. He finished this past season with 27 tackles and 14 tackles for loss in 14 games while also accounting for three sacks. Jaquise recently picked up his first offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200578' first='Tee' last='Green'] caught my attention with an impressive sophomore year. Green had a strong season out of the backfield, carrying the ball 32 times for 238 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games. He is a strong runner, showing the ability to keep his legs churning through contact while maintaining his balance to break tackles without losing stride. Green has also shown the speed to run away from the defense on long runs once he hits the open field. Tee also caught one touchdown pass and proved to be a reliable returner on special teams as a sophomore. He also made an impact on defense this past season as safety, finishing the year with 56 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two interceptions. Green currently holds an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop.

My final notable stock riser in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky is [player_tooltip player_id='1200729' first='Deakon' last='Partin']. As a sophomore, Partin completed 57/126 passes for for 803 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions in eight games. Deakon has a very strong arm which he uses to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. He is also an accurate passer, showing the ability to put the ball in a spot where only his intended receiver can catch it. Partin has also shown the ability to tuck the ball and pick up yards as a ball carrier when needed, finishing last season with 37 carries for 72 yards and three touchdowns. Deakon doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on over the next couple seasons.
