Gavyn Combs Gavyn Combs 6'5" | 270 lbs | DL/OL Betsy Layne | 2027 State KY now weighs 290 pounds and is playing his senior season for Betsy Layne. The ‘Mountain Monster’ has great size to play offensive line at the next level, but is a big-time gamer at defensive lineman as well. Combs provides a ton of effort and can play anywhere on the DL. He doesn’t give up on plays and can break off his block and fly toward the football. At EDGE, Combs plays from a two-point stance, giving him a head start to bull-rush the opposing offensive tackle. When he lines up inside, his imposing frame blows up whichever gap he’s lining up over and can burst into the backfield and ruin the play before it ever begins.

Gavyn Combs Gavyn Combs 6'5" | 270 lbs | DL/OL Betsy Layne | 2027 State KY had a breakout season as a sophomore. He lines up at defensive tackle/end where he is very impressive against the run. Combs explodes out of his stance and uses his speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles to get to the ball carrier with a sense of urgency. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable tackler in the open field, finishing last season with 84 tackles and eight tackles for loss in 12 games. He also finished his sophomore year with two sacks. Combs has received a strong amount of college interest and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his junior year.
