He stood out for his athleticism and quickness in space. Malik proved to be a versatile contributor as a sophomore last year, when he contributed in all three phases. Operating on the sophomore squad in 2024, Cochran flashed potential that will be welcomed for a program looking to replace talented graduates. In him, they have an athletic defender that will to lower the boom on the opposition. The footwork and advantages gained when utilizing his hands translates from the mat to the field. He's big and physical, pushing around older opponents. It led to 29.5 tackles (22 solo), a sack and a fumble recovery. He's quick off of the snap and sheds blocks regularly. Ironically, he also excels at snapping the ball to the quarterback or on special teams. Winter is an intriguing combination of power and athleticism. He'll blow a defender up in close quarters or pick them him off in space. He's strong already, so with another offseason of training, it could get dangerous for the opponent in 2025 and beyond.
