There were a number of standout players offensively at the very well-attended Gardner Webb Mega Camp held this past weekend in Boiling Springs, NC. We are going to take a look at some of the players who stood out for various reasons in this article. Most of my time was spent watching skill positions; however, I was able to speak with some college coaches in attendance and will share some of those observations as well throughout the article.

Quarterbacks

The quarterback that really stood out the most to me was Ryan Brochu, a 2028 prospect from York High School in South Carolina. Ryan is 6'4 and 210 pounds, and the ball comes out of his hand in a special way. He stands tall in the pocket and has a smooth delivery, mechanically. He has offers already from Kentucky, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Southern Miss, Arkansas, & Lenoir-Rhyne. He's going to be a name to watch over the next few years in the Carolinas. I spoke with Ryan at the camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='1301805' first='Hudson' last='Irwin'] from Northwest Cabarrus has shown growth and confidence in his overall game. Hudson measured in at 6'5 as well, showing he has grown physically as well. He could be lined up to have a big-time junior year as a Class of 2027 prospect here in North Carolina.

[player_tooltip player_id='897127' first='Javion' last='Majette'] out of Eastern Guilford HS in North Carolina measured in at 6'5 and 190 pounds. He competed in the last session of Day 1, and I really liked his mechanics and confidence as a 2027 prospect. He came into the camp with offers from Charlotte and Gardner-Webb, and I'm sure more college programs have him highlighted as someone to watch going into the fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1304463' first='Jared' last='Curtis'] at Ardrey Kell was also impressive, and he plans to be the starter this upcoming season for the Knights. His brother, Jack Curtis, was a very good quarterback who went on to break several passing records on the next level at Carleton College. I had an opportunity to speak with Jared, and he spoke confidently about leading the Knights this season.

Running Backs

This was an impressive-looking group of kids on both days. Starting with LJ Watson from JM Robinson High School, during the 1 on 1's against linebackers in the run game, he was smooth and agile, making cuts swifly and in short spaces. Spencer Bobian Jr was impressive - always at the front of the drills and showed nice balance and explosion on his runs and during receiving 1 on 1's against linebackers. He is out of Ridgeview HS in South Carolina and a 2027 prospect. Jordan Lindo from Rabun Gap School in Georgia was an impressive all-around player. He has a nice physical frame at 5'10 and 195 pounds and did everything well - drills, 1 on 1's, and showed to be a player to watch as a 2027 prospect.

Cameron Grayson was another good-looking player who came into this camp with a Memphis offer. I liked his fluidity and change of direction movement during the shuttle run period in positional individuals. Cameron is a 2026 prospect out of Summerville HS in South Carolina. Finally, I'll finish with [player_tooltip player_id='1658943' first='Timothy' last='Baker Jr'], out of Western Guilford HS in the Triad area of North Carolina. I think he could be a steal for someone, he has garnered some interest some multiple schools currently. He has high-level production for a program that doesn't get a lot of attention. He looked really quick and light on his feet at this camp, and he's someone I'm going to pay more attention to going forward.

Wide Receivers

Another very talented group at this showcase. [player_tooltip player_id='402300' first='Prince' last='Young'] from Independence earned an offer at this camp last season, and he showed he's gotten better this offseason. He looked faster and stronger to me throughout the 1 on 1 period, showing strong hands. He has a chance to really break out this year as a primary receiver for the Patriots. Kaleel Benjamin is a player who looks like he has a lot of potential - he has good size, and he showed he could high-point the football well. It seems he is more of a basketball player, but he has some potential. Jerome Newman will be a young prospect in the Class of 2027 to watch - he's 6'4 and ran a 4.59 40-yard time. He doesn't have any game film, but he will be someone college coaches love for his physical profile. Jerome plays for Statesville HS here in North Carolina. [player_tooltip player_id='1264500' first='Jayden' last='Arthur'] from South Rowan HS normally is a running back, but he competed at receiver and looked really fluid and natural in his routes and drills. I spoke with him after the camp.

As for Tight Ends, the one I liked the most was Maddox Waller out of Sequoyah HS in Georgia. He moved very well for his size at 6'3 and 235 pounds. He looks like he can be a true 3-down tight end. He came into the camp holding several offers to play college football, and I don't think he did anything to hurt his stock at all.

Offensive Line

We highlighted a good number of offensive linemen previously who picked up offers, so I don't have a ton of names to add here, but there were a couple of other standouts. [player_tooltip player_id='1669832' first='Michael' last='Miller'], out of Grimsley, is a mountain man of a prospect who measured at 6'7 and 334 pounds. That physical stature will always make college coaches excited, and he earned his first offer from Brevard College with his performance at this camp.

Devon Holly is a 6'4 300 300-pound interior offensive line prospect out of Rabun Gap School in Georgia who impressed the Gardner-Webb staff with his strength and footwork throughout the day. He left with an offer that appears to be his first. He is a Class of 2026 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1151608' first='Christopher' last='Peavy Jr'] came into the showcase fresh off picking up an offer from Lenoir-Rhyne College the day before the showcase, and he showed improved strength at the point of attack along with his footwork. I had a chance to speak with him after his camp performance. Christopher plays for Corvian High School in Charlotte.
