This is already shaping up to be a special group after some standout freshman campaigns. In this latest update, we rounded up our ranked players to 25 and added over 50 new names to our list.   Here are five players who are currently on the watchlist with the potential to see their stock skyrocket this season!   Full rankings <a href="https://prepredzone.com/nebraska/rankings/2028-rankings/">HERE</a>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    <a href="https://x.com/thatch_shelton" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@thatch_shelton)</a>   Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1232632' first='Thatcher' last='Shelton'] is an interesting name to keep a close eye on this fall as he makes the push to be the Silver Hawks' starting QB. Shelton didn't see a ton of varsity time as a freshman, but he has been very busy this offseason with some eye-opening performances at summer camp. Thatcher put his athleticism on full display at the Ole Miss camp with a reported 4.48 40-yard dash, 34.8" vertical jump, and a 9'5" broad jump, showcasing the explosiveness that makes him such a high-ceiling prospect. I'm looking forward to getting some more looks at Thatcher as a passer, but he already flashes a big arm that can push the ball downfield while delivering the ball with solid timing. Lots of opportunities for Thatcher to shine in 2025!      <a href="https://x.com/Sawyer_T28" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@Sawyer_T28)</a>   Here's another player who could carve out a bigger role in year 2. [player_tooltip player_id='1669609' first='Sawyer' last='Thompson'] impressed on the Griffins' freshman squad, where he flashed as a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. He projects very well as a receiver who can route up DBs and make plays downfield and over the middle of the field, or he can take quick dump-offs/screens and let his speed and burst propel him for big gains. Thompson's toughness also stood out as he displayed strong hands at the catch point and the ability to hold on through contact. Thompson brings additional versatility to the table with his ability to return kicks and even take direct snaps on designed runs for him. Defensively, Sawyer plays with great instincts in coverage as he uses his top-notch vision and range to make plays from anywhere on the field. Good ball skills make him a threat to go up and force turnovers/PBUs. Great two-way player who should develop nicely in a rising prospect factory.      <a href="https://x.com/BoylesKamden" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@BoylesKamden)</a>   I'm excited to see a Superior Wildcats defense with one more year of the Boyles wreaking havoc on opposing offenses. The younger Boyles, Kamden, had a strong freshman campaign in which he shined on defense and gave us glimpses of what to watch for on offense. Kamden ended second on the team in tackles with 83 total stops, a TFL, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. I like Kamden's fit at safety where he does a good job watching the entire field and has the sideline-to-sideline range to quickly crash on the ball when 10-15 yards downfield. As soon as Kamden reads his keys, he's breaking on the ball and looking to make strong, physical contact with the ball carrier. Solid tackler with good power. Kamden has the versatility to be moved up closer to the line to stack the box and can be trusted to be fast enough to flip his hips and get depth in coverage.      <a href="https://x.com/GavinSiemek" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@GavinSiemek)</a>   Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1581450' first='Gavin' last='Siemek'] looks like the next great RB prospect from Elkhorn South, which has been making a case as the RB High lately. Gavin jumped onto our radar after a great performance at our PRZ showcase last winter, flashing a twitchy playstyle with the hands to be a receiving threat out of the backfield. Watching Gavin's freshman tape, one thing that stood out immediately is his burst when hitting his gaps. He does a great job analyzing the field and letting his blocks set up in front of him before finding his lane and explode through for a big run. Gavin's speed flashed on tape showing that he can separate once he finds the open field. Siemek also runs with a physical mindset as he's more than willing to dish out a stiff arm or drop his pads against defenders trying to square him up. Good contact balance. I don't know how many touches Gavin will get this season but with his skillset, it'll be hard to keep him off the field for very long.      <a href="https://x.com/KaylThatcher" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@KaylThatcher)</a>   Here's a super sleeper player who I don't have a ton of information on but has the tools and in a good situation to make a splash in 2025. Kearney's [player_tooltip player_id='1687471' first='Kayl' last='Thatcher'] caught my attention when scrolling through team Hudl rosters and seeing a 6'3", 290 pound freshman. Kayl's size provides the ideal measurables that coaches will look for at the next level.
