Quarterback MVP

‘30 [player_tooltip player_id='1051781' first='Caleb' last='Johnson'] - Oakland

- It was a tough choice for our Middle School quarterback MVP as there were several strong options but Johnson earned this honor after a consistent showing at our Summer Showcase. The Patriots signal caller displayed accurate, smooth passing throughout the camp where he also showed off clean mechanics and solid arm strength. The biggest thing I liked about Johnson was his maturity, his willingness to be coached and leadership qualities. There is a lot to like about this Murfreesboro area prospect that does need to keep learning and getting bigger but the tools are definitely there to start for the Patriots and potentially make it to the college level one day.

Running Back MVP

‘30 K.J. Baker - Brentwood Academy

- One of the more physically gifted prospects we had at the PRZTN NXT Showcase was this Mid-Tennessee ball carrier that still has one more year left with middle school football. Baker performed well from start to finish on Sunday where he displayed excellent feet during drill work then showed upside in the passing game with strong hands and solid routes. His physical look might have stood out to me most as Baker has the body/frame to take a pounding and continue running forward. More speed is needed for Baker moving forward but I like the makeup of this guy and his potential as the Eagles starting running back down the road.

Wide Receiver MVP

‘29 T.J. Brinkley - Oakland

- This future Patriot two-way prospect had one of the more impressive showings yesterday at the PRZTN Nxt Camp where his work at receiver stood out the most, which earned him MVP honors. Brinkley is an athletic guy that displayed excellent footwork within his routes and some quick twitch movements that allowed him to consistently get open. The incoming freshman also showed off some strong hands, especially within physical contact that impressed myself and many others in attendance. There is plenty to work on and develop for Brinkley but I like the potential here with this natural athlete that can run!

O-line MVP

‘29 Bryson Kirkpatrick - Knox. Catholic

- Taking home MVP honors for the O-line on Sunday was this East Tennessee big man that put forth a consistent showing from start to finish while being highly coachable and willing to listen to directions. You could tell that Kirkpatrick wanted to get better at camp as he would do what was told of him and execute to almost perfection. The Fighting Irish O-lineman displayed excellent technique throughout camp as well as some lower base athleticism that should only improve as Kirkpatrick gets older. The size is there too for Kirkpatrick. He has plenty to work on but the signs are there for an eventual starting O-line role down the road at Knox. Catholic.

D-line MVP

‘29 [player_tooltip player_id='1305173' first='Trenton' last='Gibbs'] - Oakland

- Gibbs has had an impressive camp season so far and he continued the good work Sunday at the #PRZTN NXT Middle School Showcase. The Patriots freshman D-lineman started off strong during testing then continued to impress throughout positional work. His best work came in 1 on 1's where opposing offensive linemen had a hard time slowing him down. Gibbs moves well but also has a strong physical body and frame that could be utilized in multiple ways across the defensive front. Word from camp is that Gibbs could see varsity action this Fall due to his mature approach and physical mindset and I could see that happening because this Freshman big man is legit.

Linebacker MVP

‘29 Darius Ridener - McCrary Co. (Ky)

- Traveling down to the Volunteer State from Kentucky, Ridener had a standout showing on Sunday where his consistent work throughout camp earned him MVP honors by the end of the day. Where he did his best work was during 1 on 1's as Ridener proved to be the best in coverage of all linebackers. This Bluegrass State native reacted well in pass coverage, displaying good footwork and the ability to stay on path with his receiver. He also proved his worth during positional work where Ridener took to directions well and executed what was asked of him. It was an overall strong camp performance for this freshman linebacker that speaks towards a potential bright future.

Defensive Back MVP

‘30 [player_tooltip player_id='1633777' first='Regge'Yun' last='Hubbard'] - Baylor

- This Chattanooga area defensive back is young with a lot of room to grow but the raw tools are in place to develop into a potential starting prospect for the Red Raiders one day. His work stood out the most among a strong defensive back group on Sunday where Hubbard consistently displayed his athleticism and speed to make plays on the ball. The positional work was excellent but Hubbard's action during 1 on 1 ‘s is what stood out the most to me. He used his speed to stay attached to receivers while also playing a physical brand of football that annoyed the opposition. There is plenty of growth to go that is needed but I see talent here with Hubbard and a strong upside to develop nicely within the Baylor secondary.
