Between 7-on-7 action and the college camp/showcase circuit, hundreds of Oregon high school football prospects competed in the hopes of raising their recruiting stock.

These guys definitely did it.

Here's a look at the Oregon All-Camp Defense Team:

DL: [player_tooltip player_id='1246545' first='Josh' last='Christensen'], Lake Oswego (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='937281' first='Tripp' last='Johansen'], Willamette (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='1654734' first='PJ' last='Tautu'], Central Catholic (2028); [player_tooltip player_id='1636610' first='Viliami' last='Moala'], Willamette (2026)

Lake Oswego's [player_tooltip player_id='1246545' first='Josh' last='Christensen'] (X - @ChristensenJosh) is the main reason this article was created.

Why?

After sitting behind two all-state-caliber defensive ends last year at Lake Oswego, the 6-foot-6, 245-pound edge earned the overall MVP in a loaded Session 2 at The Northwest Showcase.

For Christensen to deliver that kind of performance against elite competition in front of college coaches is a complete and utter game-changer for his profile and recruitment.

So fresh to the camp circuit, Christensen initially just walked away after earning the MVP award.

Defensive line coach Caleb Wells, who does an incredible job, had to shout to the Lake Oswego star that he needed to go interact with coaches for invites to school's camps and potential private workouts.

Good awareness by Coach there, and smart pivot by Christensen who circled back to introduce himself to some important folks.

All-state honors are very possible in Year 1 as a starter.

Willamette's [player_tooltip player_id='937281' first='Tripp' last='Johansen'] (X - @Trippjohansen63) doesn't get the headlines of his Oregon Ducks-committed defensive lineman teammates [player_tooltip player_id='739439' first='Tony' last='Cumberland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1636610' first='Viliami' last='Moala'], but he's had a great spring.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound lineman, who holds a 4.1 GPA, was a standout in the 5-on-5 circuit and attended several college camp to get his name out there.

So far, Johansen holds an offer from Idaho.

But more are likely on the way given that he's only a 2027 prospect already generating some serious buzz.

Central Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1654734' first='PJ' last='Tautu'] (@PJTautu) is poised to become the next big-time Central Catholic defensive lineman.

The 2028 recruit dominated his 5-on-5 circuit reps and quickly earned offers from the Oregon State Beavers and Portland State Vikings.

Tautu could develop into a monster recruit and his breakout season this fall should be something to behold.

I mentioned him earlier, but [player_tooltip player_id='1636610' first='Viliami' last='Moala'] (X - @AmiMoala56) Absolutely dominated an Under Armor All-American camp this spring and is one of the most dominant defensive tackle recruits we've seen in Oregon in some time.

The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Willamette star was so impressive at the Salt Lake City camp that he earned an automatic invite to the nationally-televised Under Armour All-American Game.

He had the most dominant individual showing of any player on this team on either side of the ball.

Simply jaw-dropping.

LB: [player_tooltip player_id='791149' first='Kawai' last='Chamberlin'], Willamette (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='1609761' first='Tyler' last='Holmes'], West Linn (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='1112394' first='Geovoney' last='Burks'], Roosevelt (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='769991' first='Yahkyll' last='Noil'], Lakeridge (2026); [player_tooltip player_id='914278' first='CD' last='Nuno'], Philomath,

Willamette's Kawai Chamberlain (X - @KawaiChamberl1n) was a standout at The Northwest Showcase, but the nod comes primarily from his showing at Boise State.

At the Broncos' camp, the 6-foot-2, 217-pound linebacker dominated and walked away with an offer.

It's so crucial to hammer this point home - if you are underrated or looking for early offers it's so important to go compete.

Letting your all-league tape speak for you isn't enough sometimes.

You've got to be hungry, bet on yourself and go show out.

Chamberlin did that and I can't wait to see the Willamette defense in person this fall.

West Linn's [player_tooltip player_id='1609761' first='Tyler' last='Holmes'] (X - @tylerholmes2734) is the younger brother of Oregon State lineman Zach Holmes and is a great athlete in his own right.

But Holmes delivered the defensive highlight of the entire Northwest Showcase when he stayed tight in coverage against a quality running back recruit and ripped the intended pass away with one hand while rolling to the ground for an interception.

The combination of athleticism, coverage skills, hand-eye coordination and instinct for making plays is exactly what teams look for in a modern linebacker.

West Linn churns out college football recruits, so I fully expect Holmes to join that collection as a bonafide recruit in his own right very soon.

Roosevelt's [player_tooltip player_id='1112394' first='Geovoney' last='Burks'] (X - @GeovoneyBurks) is a legit PIL Defensive Player of the Year candidate and had a dominant spring in all phases.

He was great for Team Lillard, then was a standout at the Northwest Showcase, earning an invitation for a workout with the Oregon Ducks and adding offers from Sacramento State and Idaho.

Burks' stock is soaring very quickly and we could be looking at an entirely different recruiting situation for him in the coming months.

A lot of programs are intrigued and asking around about him.

Lakeridge linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='769991' first='Yahkyll' last='Noil'] is the “next man up” from the Noil family.

Remember, his two other brothers, Michael and Wyryor, were featured pieces in a Madison football program that won an OSAA first-round playoff game on the road.

It's one of the most under-discussed big-time accomplishments we've seen from a PIL football program in the past 10-15 years.

Not-so-little brother Yahkyl is a “first guy off the bus”-looking prospect at a chiseled 6-foot-2, 225 pounds.

Just looking at him, you expect big things.

But the young ‘backer moves well and isn't shy about contact.

He holds an offer from Portland State, but more could be on the way.

DB: [player_tooltip player_id='937116' first='Jackson' last='Morris'], Tigard (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='935357' first='Josiah' last='Hawkins'], Cascade, (2027); [player_tooltip player_id='1585700' first='Cole' last='Thomas'], Central Catholic (2026); [player_tooltip player_id='1232759' first='Cameron' last='Gilhuber'], Sheldon (2026); Reece Underworld, Tualatin (2026)

Tigard's [player_tooltip player_id='937116' first='Jackson' last='Morris'] (@JacksonmFtbl) made this list with ease.

The young defensive back was a shutdown corner for Team Lillard, then won the Prep Redzone MVP award at a camp in May.

He's getting better and better, and is eager to showcase his growth and development.

Morris attended camps with Washington State, Idaho, Eastern Washington and Montana in a three-day span.

So often, kids looking to get on the radar start out going to Oregon, Oregon State, Washington etc., but that's not the right way to go about it.

First, test yourself at a big showcase, determine your true talent potential, then visit schools that match where you're at.

Morris is handling it the right way, and his MVP at Prep Redzone shows that when he gets there he's all business.

Cascade's [player_tooltip player_id='935357' first='Josiah' last='Hawkins'] (@JosiahHawk6685) was a second-team all-state selection as a sophomore and will easily battle for first-team honors this year.

Why?

Hawkins is, well, a ball-hawk who uses his legit speed and quickness to break up passes or just pluck them out of the air.

Admittedly, I didn't recognize him at The Northwest Showcase, but I kept looking at my sheet to figure out who the speedy DB was.

Turns out, it was him.

Great day - and big things ahead.

Central Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1585700' first='Cole' last='Thomas'] (X - @ColeThomas1724) was an all-state performer last year for the Rams and showed why at The Northwest Showcase.

He was a standout in coverage and was a staple on the camp circuit in the Pacific Northwest.

Central Catholic lost a lot of talent, but Thomas could emerge as a major factor in Central Catholic's defensive success.

He's a gamer - and his 64-tackle, 4-interception junior campaign highlights what he showed this spring.

He's a playmaker.

Sheldon's [player_tooltip player_id='1232759' first='Cameron' last='Gilhuber'] (X - @CameronGilhuber) got plenty of bang for his buck at the San Jose State camp, earning defensive back MVP.

He was also a big-time standout at The Northwest Showcase and could be the heart-and-soul of the Irish defense this fall.

I love that he stayed at Sheldon to continue to the tradition at the proud Eugene program.

Big fan of the way he plays.

Tualatin's [player_tooltip player_id='1667982' first='Reece' last='Underwood'] (X - @Reece_w_u) was the overall MVP at Prep Redzone's May camp.

Here's what we had to say about him: “Underwood was the consensus overall MVP among the coaches. His ability to patrol the secondary and disrupt routes was consistent all day. He makes the move to Tualatin after an honorable mention all-conference season at Lakeridge last year. Separate from his impressive play he's added size and length to his frame and will be listed among the top DB's in the state.”

No disagreements.

He showed real improvement this spring and has a chance to really pop this fall.
