Burks lived up to his reputation as one of the most physical and explosive players in Oregon, dominating defenses both as a runner and as an all-around weapon. With 570 yards and 10 touchdowns, he was the engine of Roosevelt’s offense and the tone-setter for the league champions. His burst through contact and ability to finish runs made him incredibly difficult to contain. Burks’ competitiveness and two-way impact made him a deserving Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year.
Burks is a physically gifted linebacker with elite size, athleticism, and explosiveness for the position. He plays downhill with confidence, delivers powerful hits, and closes space quickly in pursuit. Burks also flashes fluidity in coverage and looks comfortable in both man and zone, which is rare for a player of his size. With his frame, motor, and versatility, Burks has the potential to be one of the most dominant defensive players in the state and is arguably the fastest-rising recruit in Oregon.
Burks is one of my favorite sleepers in the class of 2026. His athleticism stands out immediately, as he is Roosevelt’s ultimate weapon. Burks projects as a linebacker for me, as his speed is truly remarkable for the position. He is not afraid of contact and provides true sideline-to-sideline ability. His potential is through the roof, and I do not think it will be long before he blows up.
Burks was able to earn first-team honors on both sides of the ball at the tight end position and linebacker. He has elite speed and athleticism for his size and is one of the sleepers in the class for me. I am excited to watch him next season.
