McCowan put together a huge performance in his Roosevelt home debut, leading the Roughriders to a 40-14 victory over McDaniel. The senior quarterback accounted for five touchdowns, throwing for four while adding another on the ground. The performance was particularly notable given McCowan’s connection to the opponent, having transferred to Roosevelt from McDaniel during the offseason. Rather than letting the circumstances become a distraction, McCowan delivered one of his best performances of the season and helped Roosevelt take control early. His five-touchdown effort gave the Roughriders plenty of offensive firepower in a convincing home win.
