There were plenty of high-level athletes in attendance at Northwestern High School on Thursday when the Trojans hosted the Cordarrelle Patterson 7-on-7 event.

The day was unfortunately cut short due to heat, but that was long after some of the best players in the state took the field during pool play.

Here are 12 players that stood out during the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='1407416' first='Aaron' last='Shealey'] QB, Clover

Shealey looked like one of the better quarterbacks in attendance. He was in total control in the pocket and delivered the ball with accuracy and added a little extra zip when he needed to. His running ability was not on display, but on designed rollouts, he was more than able to get to his spots and deliver the ball. He will make a huge impact this season with both his arm and his legs.

Jayden Henry WR, Clover

Henry was an extremely reliable receiver, and was Shealey's go-to target for most of the day. He was efficient in both the short and long routes and showed excellent route-running ability as well as excellent hands. He hauled in nearly everything that was thrown his way and if he continues like that into the season, he and Shealey will have a big year together.

JaTavis Byrd LB/RB, Clover

Byrd played both ways at the event and was extremely efficient in doing so. He caught plenty of passes out of the backfield, as well as defending running backs out of the backfield when he was in on defense. He came away with pass breakups several times and was one of the better performers on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='483642' first='Immanuel' last='Collins'] WR, Shelby

To simply state it, Collins can absolutely fly. His speed was on display all morning long and it allowed him to constantly be open and consistently haul in catches. He was effective in the intermediate routes as well as being a deep ball threat against anyone he was matched up with.

Nehemiah Parker, Crest

Parker was one of the biggest defensive standouts of the day. His ability to cover out of the backfield along with his pursuit to the football were his biggest strengths. He was flying around the field the entire day and was a part of what felt like almost every "tackle."

Malachi Gamble RB, Crest

Gamble was the feature running back for Crest at the event and he made the most of it. He was good in the short game out of the backfield and was good in the more advanced routes like the wheel routes and angle routes. His speed will make it hard for any linebacker to cover him. If he is used correctly, he could have a monster receiving year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1418100' first='Johnny' last='Collins'] QB, Blythewood

Much like the previously mentioned Shealey, Collins looked extremely calm and confident at quarterback. He made great reads, delivered the ball on-time and did it with accuracy and precision. With more reps and more experience, Collins could be an impact player for Blythewood this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='473013' first='Carter' last='Coleman'] ATH, Blythewood

Coleman was all over the field and was the top target for Collins throughout the day. His speed is off the chains, and it allowed him to constantly be open all over the field. That speed played a part in his defense as well, as he played solid in coverage and will be an excellent two-way player for Blythewood this season.

Zy Davis DB, Lewisville

Davis was a big part of Lewisville's defensive attack, and he held his own for most of the day. He played tight coverage all day long and was in on several pass deflections and breakups. He collected a couple of interceptions as well and after the departure of Zach Rogers from Lewisville, Davis will be a key member of the defense this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1165159' first='Jordan' last='Strong'] ATH, Lewisville

Strong was one of the most talented players on the field at any given point of the day. Offense or defense, he was out making plays and was a major factor in Lewisville knocking off Northwestern in bracket play before the day was cancelled. He hauled in touchdown receptions, had a couple interceptions, and really just showed why he should undoubtedly be considered the best player for Lewisville this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1025815' first='Caleb' last='Geronomi'] WR/DB White Knoll

Gerenomi was a huge part of the defensive success that White Knoll had on Thursday. He was consistently in on pass breakups and played great coverage when matched up 1-on-1. He also contributed a bit in the receiving game and looked good when in the game and doing it. He has a chance to be an excellent two-way player this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1036740' first='Tiyon' last='Fanning'], White Knoll

Fanning played excellent in all phases on Thursday and was a key part of the success that White Knoll had. He played running back throughout the day and was good at receiving out of the backfield, as well as getting up field and getting the extra yards when he had space to. Much like the other running backs mentioned above, his speed will make him hard to cover out of the backfield and he could have a great year if used correctly.
