Off of the heels of Bayonne's first winning season in half a decade, [player_tooltip player_id='1183271' first='Deon' last='McKinnon'] was arguably their biggest breakout performer. Although he scored 4 touchdowns as a receiver, McKinnon sets honey traps in the secondary. As a result, he was amongst the state's leaders in interceptions on the season with 8, including 3 games with at least 2. Look for McKinnon to attempt to replicate this success in his last dance this fall.

Although I have known about [player_tooltip player_id='1271284' first='Frenchmon' last='Bethea'] for a minute now, he was always an enigma of sorts to me. For a while we had him listed as a quarterback. This trend continued for the first part of last year where Bethea held serve at the position, until inbound transfer [player_tooltip player_id='827679' first='Reilly' last='Hoffacker'] was eligible to play due to senior-year transfer rules after sitting behind Billy Smith. All this to say that although he was serviceable and functional as a high school quarterback, we did not like Bethea at quarterback nearly as much as we do now. Bethea's athleticism will likely allow him to succeed at either wide receiver or safety - it will be a tough choice for some college coaches - since he has range, speed, and more polished skills than you would think for a player who is asked to do so much.

Regrettably, [player_tooltip player_id='760086' first='Jack' last='Cannon'] is a prospect I have not yet seen play live. Aside from having the perfect surname for a quarterback, Cannon is probably the best and most pure dual-threat quarterback in class of 2026 (and possibly the state). As a junior, Cannon went 122-174 passing (70%) for 1944 yards with 19 TD and 3 Int, while scoring 18 times on the ground for 1075 yards on 146 attempts. Clearly he can run and make good decisions; however, a concern I had about Cannon was whether or not he is really 6'2" and approaching 200lbs. College coaches have seemed to confirm that, as he recently racked up offers to universities such as UMass, Buffalo, Dartmouth, Air Force, Navy, Arkansas State, Bryant, Cornell, Princeton, ... well yeah, you get the idea at this point.
