I dish out my favorite trench monsters on the defensive line from the TrainingHAUS/MFCA Combine on Saturday in Eagan. To weight room monsters that repped 27 times at 225 pounds, new 2027 names that stood out, and linebackers that played defensive line on Saturday to grow their skillsets even deeper, we unpack all that and more for you here at PRZ Minnesota.

[player_tooltip player_id='1621851' first='Cortez' last='Berry Jr']. Roseville 2026 Twitter

Cortez was the first name I had logged into my notebook on Saturday, which always is a good sign during the live eval. He had the explosiveness I wanted to see early during the bench press where I could see the authority that was there for Cortez with his arms and strength which translated into the live reps. He went 27 reps at 225 pounds! The multiple pass-rush moves that Cortez showed off showed off his versatility, as one that I could tell was comfortable getting inside or outside and showed off a nasty spin move which to me was one of the best reps I saw all day. The get off hands that Cortez showed off on the those reps were almost impressive as you can tell this young man processes each rep with sound instincts. With the powerlifting background with some absurd numbers, I would expect this young man to catch some attention this summer at camps as there was a lot to like in his live eval from Saturday as I would name him as my DL MVP in the 2026 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1629872' first='Jon' last='Wiseman'], Providence Academy 2027 Twitter

Jon was a 2027 defensive linemen that crushed the eye test in the 2027 group and was my top rated 2027 defensive linemen from Saturday at the TrainingHAUS Combine from the live eval. The 6'2 270 pounder from Providence Academy, appears to have the body type that you could add even more frame too in the defensive trenches and in my eyes projects as a defensive tackle at the next-level. Jon showed off the highest level of work ethic I saw in the 2027 group showing off a blue-collar demeanor working his hands to his advantage to win a handful of hard-earned reps in the trenches that to me translate to the next-level. There also was instincts shown off at his disposal as I felt from start to finish Jon processes quicker and quicker with his pursuit angles once he got off his blocks, showing off great technique for his age. Our DL4 in the 2027 class, looked like a riser in my eyes last weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543074' first='Camarrious' last='Sweezy'], Minneapolis North 2027 Twitter

Yet another prospect target out of Minneapolis North that made waves at the the TrainingHAUS Combine on Saturday in Eagan. The 6'0 200 pounder I felt played way bigger than those measurables will show you as his strength, athletic movement, and intuition seemed to trend bigger based off the eye test. Camarrious had the top testing numbers in the pro agility in the DL group with an impressive 4.44 and the translation from testing to the field in my eyes was evident. I even felt Camarrious had wiggle room to make that time even faster with developing his technique over the coming years, but clearly the athletic traits are there for this young man.During 1v1 reps, Camarrious showed off that sudden twitch that I had a front-row seat for in testing, as his suddenness and movement to the inside won a rep that from my eyes had the "wow" factor due to his quicker get and proactive pursuit angles while showing off the change of direction. Camarrious is another defensive end that his body type shows off plenty of room to grow in the weight room in the coming years. With a 3.6 GPA, this young man should surely gather some next-level attention over the next several months with his growing skillsets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1642226' first='James' last='Bolduc'], Minnetonka 2027 Twitter

James was one of a couple Skippers defensive linemen that stood out at the TrainingHAUS Combine in Eagan last Saturday. The translation from middle linebacker to a defensive linemen on Saturday intrigued me for James, as I could see that he was quickly building more versatility with his skillsets he showed off. One of the more explosive athletes I saw during the testing session and I could tell that the twitch James had would translate to the field, which it did in my eyes. He showed off an explosive first step that still has some develop to groom his pass rush moves but overall, James always finished his reps with high adrenaline in my eyes.James also showed off his suddenness in the 40-yard dash as he got out the gates of his 40-yard dash like a bat out of you know what. The tape from last year shows off a middle linebacker that is quick and efficent with his movement getting to the point of attack, which you can see the upside in the 1v1s for James, just needing to gather more strength against the offensive line. One to watch for the Skippers in 2025.

Vincent Kazmierczak, White Bear Lake 2026 Twitter

Vincent was a new name that caught my attention in the 2026 class out of White Bear Lake. The 6'0 215 pounder, might not have the prototypical size for a defensive end, but man I was quite impressed with his reps during 1v1s. He was one that I could grasp was taking in every ounce of coaching he received and put what they told him into play. He used his motor, great angles, and solid hands to win several reps with his inside moves and at the end of 1v1s flashed the versatility with an outside move that Vincent power off the offensive tackle with great angles and got to the ball carrier with ease against a much bigger offensive linemen. My gut tells me that Vincent projects as a linebacker at the next-level and in his high school system, but man this kid has some potential on the EDGE in some formations to get downhill quick and added more position/formation flexibility as a pass-rusher on Saturday at the TrainingHAUS Combine.

[player_tooltip player_id='1650930' first='Tyson' last='Bell'], Rogers 2028 Twitter

Tyson has already put together a sound spring season at camps, as he was one of my standouts at our Prep Redzone Minnnesota Showcase, and again on Saturday at the TrainingHAUS Combine in Eagan. Tyson was the only 9th grader in attendance with the 10th and 11th graders, and in my honest opinion he blended in extremely well from the reps I got to watch throughout the day. He matched up well with the eye test too. During Indy drills, I thought he had one of the more athletic bends that I saw amongst the underclassmen overall. Even as the only 9th grader, he was in the top four in reps on the 185 bench press in which he we for 10 reps as just a freshmen. The athletic traits at defensive end are there for Tyson, as one that I can't wait to see how the upside with his skillsets continue to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633461' first='Pierce' last='Fogarty'], Minnetonka 2027 Twitter

Pierce was almost perfect in winning 1v1 reps at the TrainingHAUS Combine in Eagan, winning 11 of his 12 reps that we got to watch. This young man is superb from a technique perspective with his agile movement and pass rush moves, but his size is still in progression as a 5'11 209 pounder with plenty of room yet to grow as a 2027 target out of Minnetonka. If you want a prospect that IMO has one of the biggest motors I have seen in the two events I have covered at TrainingHAUS this spring, Pierce could be the piece you are missing as I feel Pierce is a young man that is team-first centric and in my eyes has position flexibility to move to linebacker due to his agile twitch and instinctive movement at the point of attack. He is one that surely plays with another gear of game-speed that excels on the field vs. a testing session.
