I enjoyed checking out the talent at the PRZ Illinois HS/MS Combine Series. There was great talent overall, including top-tier high school prospects and some up-and-coming middle school prospects who showed they could fit right in.

I'm kicking off coverage with some of my standouts from the middle school level. Here are five PRZNEXT prospects to start watching NOW!

[player_tooltip player_id='1557574' first='Jayden' last='Jaramillo'] (2029), QB - Plainfield South (IL) - 5'6" 140 lbs

Plainfield South's [player_tooltip player_id='1557574' first='Jayden' last='Jaramillo'] will be an interesting QB to follow in his upcoming HS prep career. The young gunslinger showed out on Saturday as coaches chose him as the middle school QB MVP. One thing that really stood out about Jayden was the confidence he showed in his arm, even when throwing against some of the HS defensive backs. The incoming freshman displayed a good sense of timing and anticipation with his passes, showing he can throw his receivers open. Jaramillo also flashed decent zip on his passes that will only get sharper as he continues to develop. Very solid incoming frosh prospect!

[player_tooltip player_id='1405140' first='Peyton' last='Briley'] (2029), RB - Greenfield (WI) - 5'10" 168 lbs

Greenfield's [player_tooltip player_id='1405140' first='Peyton' last='Briley'] was an immediate standout among the middle school group with his great testing, indy drills, and reps in 1v1s. Going into his freshman year, Peyton already possesses a solid frame that will only continue to get stronger in the upcoming seasons and the athleticism to do damage at the high school level. One of the strongest parts of Peyton's game is his quick twitch and ability to shake defenders even in close spaces. He had some impressive reps against some of the HS linebackers, showing he can outrun even good angles with his explosiveness and acceleration when running to the outside. Good vision and the ability to cut back on a dime. Good reps in 1v1s where he displayed a decent route tree and good hands even when trying to hold on through contact. Peyton's performance earned him the RB MVP for the middle school group.

Cooper Sherman (2030), WR - Fort Wayne (IN) - 5'11" 155 lbs

Going back through clips from Saturday, it's clear why Fort Wayne's Cooper Sherman earned the WR MVP for middle schoolers. Cooper might've been one of the better route runners in the middle school group, showing crisp footwork and sharpness at the break-off point. Even competing against some of the high schoolers, Sherman showed he can match the physicality shown by DBs, both when hand-fighting and when battling through contested catches. Nice burst off the line with the acceleration to gain ground against DBs quickly and slip past them to take the top off the defense. Strong hands and is crafty at creating separation. Big time upside!

[player_tooltip player_id='1637365' first='Urijah' last='Bell'] (2029), WR - Janesville (WI) - 6'0" 170 lbs

Janesville's [player_tooltip player_id='1637365' first='Urijah' last='Bell'] looks like a receiver ready for the high school stage. With his 6'0 "and 170-pound frame, Urijah stood out physically as one of the taller receivers among the middle schoolers. His size allowed him to match up well with the older group and even showed he could "outmuscle" defensive backs when going up for contested catches. Bell is sharp with the route running, displaying quickness coming out of his breaks and shifty feet. He does a good job using his reach to his advantage and knows how to maximize his catch radius. Definitely someone to keep a close eye on out of the Badger State.

[player_tooltip player_id='1426642' first='Patrick' last='Lange'] (2029), RB - West Berlin (WI) - 5'8" 170 lbs

We got another Wisco running back who could develop into a solid prospect by the time senior year rolls around. West Berlin's [player_tooltip player_id='1426642' first='Patrick' last='Lange'] is a strong running back who runs with a good, sturdy base and has some nice burst when hitting his gaps. Lange impressed in some of the RB/LB competition drills, where he displayed: 1) good hands receiving the ball, and 2) the quick instincts to shake defenders in open space. Good vision. Lange showed that he could be a receiving threat who could target all levels of the field. Excited to watch more from Patrick as he rises through the HS ranks!
