I enjoyed checking out the talent at the PRZ Illinois HS/MS Combine Series. There was great talent overall, including top-tier high school prospects and some up-and-coming middle school prospects who showed they could fit right in.

Here is my second round of high school standouts with five more elite prospects!

Bradley-Bourbonnais' [player_tooltip player_id='1052579' first='Ky'ren' last='Edmon'] is an exciting young prospect who is already attracting collegiate attention. The Boilermakers prospect enters his sophomore season with offers from Ole Miss and Ohio, and has the potential to see that list explode with a strong summer camp cycle. Edmon tested out very well with marks of 4.34 40-yard dash (top overall), 4.34 shuttle drill, 8'11" broad jump, and a 7.31 L-drill, all of which were top three at his position. Ky'ren's speed and explosiveness translated well to the positional drills and 1v1s, where he displayed elite twitch to make defenders miss and the acceleration/burst to explode through his holes to break off big plays. Ky'ren also displayed great hands, making him a threat out of the backfield or as a slot receiver, depending on the offensive package. Massive ceiling!

Bishop Noll's Antonio Benson Jr had quite the eye-opening performance at the Combine Series. Despite being looked at as "undersized," Antonio didn't let that keep him from making big-time plays against some great DBs. The biggest thing that stands out about Benson is his route-running ability, starting with getting a clean release at the LOS, building speed through the stem, and elite sharpness at the breakoff point. His suddenness at the top of the route allowed him to create separation from defenders while being able to maintain his speed and burst coming out of his breaks. Strong, reliable hands make him a go-to target at all levels of the field. Very interesting prospect who should not be overlooked, especially by upcoming opponents this fall!

Let me be one of the first to tell you... Neuqua Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='1624829' first='Maxwell' last='Schueneman'] is coming! Maxwell was one of the top linemen prospects in attendance, showing a great blend of size, physicality, and mobility. At 6'4" and 330 pounds, Maxwell already has the size that projects well to the collegiate level, while also having the lengthy reach that coaches covet. Maxwell impressed with his footwork and ability to slide and mirror defenders while also having the power in his base to anchor down and stonewall both speed and power rushers. Good, strong hands that can deliver a powerful punch at the point of attack. Schueneman also displayed consistent pad level and hip bend throughout his reps. Won't be long before coaches are extending offers to the Neuqua Valley prospect.

Very interesting prospect here with TAFT's [player_tooltip player_id='1676499' first='Malik' last='Mahamid'], who has the upside to be a versatile defensive chess piece at the collegiate level. Malik ran with the defensive line group, but used more of a stand-up edge rusher/OLB stance and really showed his quick first step during 1v1s. He is fast getting off the ball and is very quick to shoot his hands while using them effectively to disengage from blockers. Good bend when rushing off the edge. Mahamid also showed his ability to work his way inside when linemen get too wide. Very lengthy wingspan at 6'7" and strong testing numbers including a 4.37 shuttle, 8'10" broad jump, and a 7.56 L-drill. Solid pass-rushing prospect who is sure to turn some heads this summer.

Another defender who should be getting serious looks is Mount Carmel's [player_tooltip player_id='1524594' first='Stephen' last='Winkler'], who took home the title of LB MVP and was the top performer in the testing drills among the linebackers. Stephen got off to a blazing start with a great testing portion, posting marks of a 4.54 40-yard dash, 4.3 shuttle drill, 9'10" broad jump, and a 7.00 L-drill. The biggest thing that stood out about Stephen was his quick-fire instincts as he tracks the ball and can pick up on RB routes with ease. He is quick to step into his gaps with the ability to flip his hips and get back into coverage. Very good lateral speed with sideline-to-sideline range. It was a non-padded camp, so we didn't get to see Stephen's tackling ability, but watching the tape, he flashes as a secure tackler. Winkler currently holds an FCS offer from Western Illinois.
