I swung by Milton to check out the two-time defending state champs. They have a blend of new faces and returning contributors. One thing is certain: they are built for another deep run into the playoffs and loaded with future CFB talent. Here are some scouting notes after my close in-person exposure.

'26 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1634700' first='Lawson' last='Estes'] is one of the more underrated members of the Milton defense, but is set to play a bigger role as a senior, and caught my eye early on at practice. He stuck out physically amongst the skill players, looking all of his listed 6'2 185. He is cut and a smooth mover, and he used his length to crowd the catch point during 1 v 1's. Estes qualified for state in the high jump, adding more context to his athleticism. I am expecting him to be a good value pick-up for a D1 school.

Whoever lands '26 DB [player_tooltip player_id='283915' first='Tristan' last='Lester'] is getting a future contributor, at the very least. His size might be what holds him back from receiving major recruiting attention, but he has a dozen D1 offers regardless. Anyone who watches Milton play sees 12 involved on every play. He is a solid player all-around and finds ways to impact the game seemingly every snap. He isn't a shabby athlete either, and plays on a muscled-up frame. Look for him to settle at S or nickel at the next level. He has a nose for the football, a downhill mentality, and a high floor.

From a pure traits and eye-test perspective, '27 LB Quentavious Price stuck out immediately. He is listed at 6'2 190, but looks even bigger than that. He is long, cut, and has room to pack on some weight. He is still raw and developing nuance, but he is well-equipped traits wise. There is some boom potential here, and I look forward to seeing how he develops this fall.

'27 QB [player_tooltip player_id='409921' first='Derrick' last='Baker'] is loaded with P4 offers, and for good reason. He is fun to watch throw. He is an explosive athlete with a stout frame, almost built like an RB with his 6'1 220 frame. Baker has a quick release and effortlessly launches the ball around. He easily tightropes the ball to each level of the field. He can make plays with his legs, too. This is my second time seeing Baker throw in person, and I am even more impressed this time around.

'27 WR Aedyn Meintzer is a new name to me and sticks out physically amongst the WR group. He is a towering 6'3 190 and tracked the ball nicely through contact, he also used his frame to box out and shield the catch point. His initial quickness is still developing, but he has some giddy-up vertically and leans well in his routes. Meintzer is a big target who can make tough catches. I would consider him a breakout candidate, and I am willing to bet some college coaches are impressed when they see him work in person.

'28 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1197755' first='Joshua' last='Evans'] has made quite a name for himself this offseason, both on the camp scene and early on in spring practice. He is a stout, thicker OL prospect. However, he is still skinny in his ankles and light on his feet. I like the way he squares up at this stage, and he consistently finds ways to win his 1v1. Evans projects as a guard long-term. His combination of play strength and light-footedness will have college coaches intrigued for years to come.

Anything I say at this point on '29 OL [player_tooltip player_id='450408' first='Landon' last='Ghea'] will just be regurgitating prior knowledge that everyone already knows about him. He is the most physically dominant middle schooler I have ever seen and is already receiving recognition as one of the premier players in the 2029 class. This is my first time seeing him in pads, and if you didn't know him, you would be shocked to learn he isn't even in high school yet.
