I've scouted dozens of excellent High School Running Backs over the past four years. Out of all of the RBs I've scouted, only a few truly stand out as the most elite. Here's a tidbit about the five best High School RBs I've ever scouted.

I'm cheating a little here because I never actually scouted David, though I briefly coached David prior to the 2020 season.

Being in the same program as David, I understood the impact he had on the entire program. I'll admit that Avondale was not and still is not an excellent high school football team, but David propelled what was probably a below-average team into a team that could make a run in the postseason. David had a ton of physical gifts. He was fast, physical, and could bounce off tackles.

David ended up committing to Indiana, where he saw action in 10 games, but never earned a start. Now, David is at Grand Valley State. Last season, David had 28 rushing attempts, 148 yards, and 1TD. Let's see if David is able to make his mark in the GLIAC!

Kloska is the first player that comes to mind when I think of a dominant High School running back. This dude made high school Varsity defenses look like elementary school recess.

Like many of these prospects, Timmy had some physical gifts, but I'd argue that he had less physical gifts than anyone on this list. Instead, he worked his tail off for four+ years, culminating in a truly historic senior season. I've never seen a high school running back that ran with so much power and want-to.

After high school career, Kloska enrolled at Army West Point. He doesn't have any stats through two seasons, but I'd honestly be shocked if he didn't eventually earn playing time for Army. Insanely hard worker, great guy, and someone I'm still rooting for.

Cole was an incredible high school football player for Dexter. Incredibly explosive, great vision, and one of the fastest players in the country. Likely the best receiving RB I've ever watched at the high school level.

After high school, Cole enrolled at the University of Michigan. After a redshirt season, Cole sat during 2024 due to injury. At first, Cole transferred to Minnesota. Some time later, Cole decided to commit to Western Michigan- somewhere that he'll almost surely have an opportunity.

Jace is the most recent of the "best of best" RBs. Committed to Michigan State, Jace has an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of many other great Spartan RBs. I feel that Jace has a lot of similarities to Kenneth Walker, in fact.

Jace is a 3-down back who does an incredible job of bouncing off tackles and churning forward. He doesn't waste much time dancing in the open field, and overall has much better balance and vision than most prospects. Kenneth Walker had impeccable balance, amazing vision, and never wasted any movement. Jace could be a very similar player.

Man, the 2021 Grand Blanc team was fun to watch. This team defied all odds, powering all the way to the semifinals before losing to Rochester Adams.

A gigantic part of Grand Blanc's success was star RB Elijah Jackson-Anderson. One of the best "elusive" RBs I've scouted and a similar prospect to David Holloman. Elijah was a very explosive athlete, and made a lot of incredible plays in open space. Pair that with a good QB and a great WR room, Grand Blanc's offense was nearly unstoppable.

Now, Elijah is at Eastern Michigan. Last season, Elijah totaled 214 rushing yards and 2TDs on 54 carries. Let's see if Elijah is able to earn an even larger role next season!
