The summer going into your junior season is often a big one for prospects, as college teams are starting to set their big boards for the incoming junior class and begin to reach out to players. To help the coaches get the jump on the 2027 class, I wanted to highlight a few players who I think are set to break out in 2025 and could become hot prospects by the time their junior campaign is over.

Here are five 2027s that are primed to rise this season:

Elkhorn North has quickly become a place to look for well-coached offensive and defensive linemen ready to excel at the next level. One player next up in the Wolves' pipeline is junior [player_tooltip player_id='1277026' first='Ian' last='Anderson'], a standout performer at the Combine Series showcase. Anderson looks the part at 6'4", 255 pounds and a lengthy 78" wingspan. Ian possesses a strong base that allows him to anchor down when engaged in blocks and slow down defenders looking to bull-rush him. He also displayed decent lateral mobility when mirroring pass rushers. Good extension and powerful punch. With a spring and summer cycle to continue developing, I could see Ian earning a starting role going into his junior season.

Technically, Lincoln Southeast's [player_tooltip player_id='422449' first='Kadin' last='Logan'] already had a breakout season after an impressive freshman campaign, so this is more about his comeback from injuries last year. Kadin exploded onto the scene as a freshman, displaying an exciting blend of speed and power when running the ball. Kadin possesses legit sprinter speed, making him a threat to break off long runs on any given play, and is strong enough to battle through contact to pick up tough yardage. His power running base allows him to bounce off tacklers while doing an excellent jobof keeping his balance as he fights for more yards. Logan can also be used as a receiving threat, either coming out of the backfield or in the slot. Expect the Knights' rushing attack to take off with Kadin back as the main ball carrier.

Back at Lincoln Southeast after a season with the Islanders, QB [player_tooltip player_id='422371' first='Gavin' last='Semm'] looks primed to take over QB1 duties and lead a balanced attack with his backfield mate, Kadin, who was mentioned above. Gavin gave us several glimpses at his upside last year as he flashed a strong arm that can push the ball to all levels of the field and solid football IQ/decision making you need from your QB. Semm showed he can throw with touch as he delivers a catchable deep ball that falls right into a receiver's hands. He can also put some heat on his throws over the middle of the field, delivering an accurate fastball that he can fit into tight windows. Solid mobility when rolling out and maneuvering the pocket, while keeping his eyes downfield looking for open receivers. Big year coming up for Gavin!

Bellevue West's [player_tooltip player_id='1094443' first='LeAndrew' last='Lloyd'] is a player who has shown consistent signs of improvement and a strong work ethic since jumping on our radar as a freshman. It seems like this hard work is set to pay off this season with LeAndrew in the fold to carve a bigger role for himself. Lloyd has solid size for a linebacker at 6'0" and 190 pounds with room to continue packing on some mass to his frame. Watching him perform at camps and in limited game film, it's clear LeAndrew plays with good instincts that you want out of your linebacker, with quick play recognition and a fast first step that helps him quickly break on the ball. Lloyd consistently sets the edge against the run and can fight off blockers to continue pursuing the ball. Physical tackler with the strength to drag his opponents down at will.

Omaha North's [player_tooltip player_id='1662623' first='Devin' last='Cox'] stepped up big time in his sophomore season after injuries struck the Vikings' defensive line. The junior defensive lineman recorded 28 tackles, seven TFLs, three sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Watching Devin's tape, two things stood out immediately: his versatility and his explosiveness getting off the ball. Devin projects best as a defensive tackle, but also flashed some flexibility along the defensive line, showing that he can line up head up on the guard, over the center, at defensive end, and even displayed the lateral quickness to execute stunts when rushing the pass. He generates a lot of explosiveness from his hips as he shoots out of his stance and quickly shoots his hands to deliver a powerful jab to his opponent. Effective, active hands when attempting to disengage from blockers. Once he can spring free, Devin's motor keeps him working his way to the ball and playing through the whistle. Riser alert!!
