I was surprised when I learned that [player_tooltip player_id='1656423' first='Bryce' last='Jensen'] was a player that we haven't covered extensively in the past, especially after seeing how athletic he was on the field. Jensen posted a 4.62 40 yard time and a 9'2" broad jump. That athleticism was on full display, especially during the individual portion of the event, showing a great combination of speed, agility, and sharp cuts carrying the ball, and he also did a solid job at keeping defenders outside of the pocket during 1-on-1 pass blocking drills. Jensen saw time playing at RB, DB, and WR during the event, and by far he performed best during the RB drills. Either way, we should be hearing a lot more from Jensen over in Shakopee this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1107372' first='Dearis' last='Hubbert'] has been building a lot of hype this offseason, and he's certainly living up to it with the way he performed on Sunday. Hubbert posted an impressive 9'4" broad jump and 4.62 40 yard time. Hubbert is a naturally fast runner, and he did extremely well when it came to running downhill during the ball-carrying drills. Hubbert made plenty of clean cuts and also did a solid job in containing defenders during the pass-block drills. Coming off a strong year leading the run game for Prior Lake's JV team last season, Hubbert has been building a lot of momentum this offseason and he has a legitimate shot for the starting job in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='402073' first='James' last='Engle'] was rewarded as the MVP at the RB position during the Combine Series event on Sunday. Engle was by far the best all-around RB that I watched during the event. Engle does a great job with his cuts, but he also showed a quick burst releasing off the cuts. Engle did a great job in both pass-blocking and receiving drills, showing off particularly on the RB Angle routes as he was able to flip his hips through the cut on his route in one fluid motion. Playing for a very run-heavy Maple Grove team, Engle could emerge as the lead horse for a very deep backfield in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1289874' first='Mack' last='Jurkovich'] has already proven himself to be a high quality starter at RB. Jurkovich carried the ball well once again on Sunday, posting a 4.65 40 yard time, making smooth cuts, and showing a solid amount of burst running outside the defender. However, Jurkovich stood out the most as arguably the best blocking RB during the 1-on-1 pass-blocking drills, as Jurkovich was able to keep up with his defenders the whole time, showing great footwork and hands as he was able to contain nearly every pass-rush move attempted on him. Jurkovich should be in clear contention toward finishing as one of the top rushing leaders in the entire state over the next two seasons with how much he has been progressing over these last few months.

Minneapolis North did not disappoint during this showcase, as they had many athletes step it up big time during this showcase, and [player_tooltip player_id='1655336' first='Tyshone' last='Jenkins'] was no exception. He posted one of the best broad jump times during the event, with a 9'5" jump. Jenkins was very agile running the ball, showing quick change of direction and impressive double moves during the 1-on-1 drills, while also showing his worth as a ferocious pass-protector in the blocking drills. Jenkins is a legit stud, and he could very well find his way into the starting lineup heading into his junior season at Minneapolis North.

[player_tooltip player_id='923837' first='Dominic' last='Baez'] is one of the most interesting RBs that I saw during the event. Baez is a proven starter coming off a 1000 yard rushing season as a junior. Baez did a solid job in the ball-carrying drills, making sharp, horizontal cuts and jukes against defenders, and he showed a sneaky amount of burst carrying around the outside edge. However, Baez was more impressive in the pass-catching drills than on the ground. He runs routes like a WR, and he was able to win on multiple deep routes, showing his ability to get to the top of the route to make a play. Baez should see his value increase significantly after this showcase as he flashed clear dual-threat ability, and he could very easily play both RB and WR in the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552404' first='Colbe' last='Tappe'] played a central role in guiding Staples-Motley to the Class 2A State Championship game last season. Tappe held his own pretty well going against athletes from much bigger schools during the event, flashing his physicality and his strength in rushing downhill. He showed great hands and toughness during the blocking drills and also is a solid pass-catcher, despite playing to defend the pass as a DB. Tappe is a bright small-school prospect that certainly warrants watching in 2025.
