I had an opportunity to watch Team Black Ops 18U in action a couple of weeks ago during a 7-on-7 tournament, marking the second time I've seen them compete. In this latest tournament, Black Ops went 2-0-1 in pool play and followed that with a dominant playoff win over Prolific 7v7 “Hussle” before falling 19-8 to Swag 7v7 Red in the next round. My evaluation is based on their pool game against Level 82 White, which they won 24-18, and their tournament matchup against Prolific, which ended in a convincing 37-5 victory.

Quarterback Jaylin Solomon threw eight touchdowns across the two games I observed. Although his completion percentage was slightly below 50%, partly due to a few dropped passes and sacks, he impressed with his aggressive approach. Davis regularly pushed the ball downfield and connected on multiple deep throws of 25-plus yards. He showed great energy and competitiveness, serving as a true leader whose intensity seemed to spark his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='477497' first='Leighton' last='Curtis'] stood out on both sides of the ball, contributing at least three touchdowns—including a goal-line flip pass, a long strike, and a short end-zone grab—and adding key receptions to move the chains. He also made a highlight-reel toe-tap catch near the goal line and showcased his defensive instincts with an interception, reading the quarterback and jumping an out-route.

[player_tooltip player_id='1506844' first='CJ' last='Davis'] also emerged as a reliable deep threat, hauling in several passes of 15 to 20 yards and consistently helping to move the offense. He caught a nice seam pass down the middle of the field against Prolific for a touchdown.

No. 8 (WR) had a standout moment with a touchdown grab over two defenders. By high-pointing the ball, he showcased excellent timing and ball skills.

[player_tooltip player_id='1349749' first='Nate' last='Gardner'] was another offensive contributor, finding the end zone once, securing multiple receptions, and converting several two-point conversions.

Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='928988' first='Cayden' last='Bruce'] delivered one of the most impressive plays I witnessed, jumping an out-route for an interception. The Black-Ops defense held firm, maintaining tight coverage and forcing several errant throws and turnovers. Jordan Hicks also added to the takeaway tally with an interception of his own. Overall, Black-Ops played with intensity, made explosive plays on both sides of the ball, and showed they could compete at a high level.
