2028 Prospect Watch: Charlotte Area RBs

We're well into the offseason, and we're keeping things going ahead of spring workouts and summer practices. In a new series that will run concurrently with some of our other cornerstone content, like my <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/03/community-film-room-episode-4-2/">community film room series</a> or Matt Morrow's <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/03/deep-dive-union-county-wide-receivers/">county-by-county Deep Dives</a>, we're looking at what some of our 2028 players (both ranked and unranked) did as freshmen. After hitting the quarterbacks last week, we're moving to the running backs, starting with six guys in the Charlotte area.    Our top-ranked running back in the 2028 class, Stiles ran for nearly 900 yards as a freshman. He's shifty in the open field and displayed a great amount of power as a freshman. Obviously, his size is ideal for not just a freshman, but for a prospect in general and his upside is enormous, as he's already a patient and intelligent runner.     Another player who saw a considerable amount of playing time as a freshman, Taylor had just under 100 carries and caught 11 passes in 2024. I'm impressed with his maturity as a runner. While he hits the hole with some burst, he rarely kicks it into full gear until he gets to the second level. That patience allows him to make bigger runs, as he's not overrunning his angles. He's a guy we think could thrive next season.     A big, bruising runner, Morrison shows an impressive burst through the hole. There's no hiding his intentions here, Morrison wants to get downhill and eat up yardage in a hurry. That's reflected in his numbers as a freshman. He averaged 6.5 yards per carry on 17 attempts, but only three went for over 10 yards. That's a skillset teams like Hough need, as he's not going to get tackled behind the line of scrimmage and also hints at his ability to be a future workhorse option.     Banks isn't the biggest back you'll find, but he runs with good contact balance and pad level, which allows him to still break some tackles. Where he's at his best though is when he's able to cut and maximize yards before contact. His speed isn't elite, but it's very good, enough to get to open space and eat up yards before he's tackled.     Person doesn't have a ton of film, but he displays excellent power and contact balance on the few clips he has. Person is a heads up runner who is always planning his next move in advance. He has a profile that usually translates to on-field success.     Edmund is a talented athlete with the upside to be an excellent starting running back. He has great speed and already possesses excellent size. He does a great job of maintaining speed when he's hitting the hole or running through arm tackles and he can create space in the open field. He's a back we're watching over the next few years.
