2026 Western Kansas Prospect Spotlight

Lately I have been focusing on showcasing a lot of the states top 8-Man prospects but in this write-up I'll be heading back over to the 11-Man game. Here are five Western Kansas prospects in the 2026 class that need added attention as we move into the camp/combine season. Some of these prospects are tearing it up even beyond the football field.   These studs come from such leagues like the Central Plains, the Heart of America, the Hi-Plains and lastly two from the Western Athletics Conference.   As we get ready for the NFL Draft this evening, always be mindful we could be talking about some possible future NFL gridiron stars coming out of this great State of Kansas in these articles. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder not only excels as an defensive end on the gridiron but also stars at a high level in track and field.   This past fall he had 61 tackles (30 solo and 31 assisted), 5.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks for the Celtics. He was honored as Honorable Mention 1A All-State and First Team All-Heart of America at defensive end.   As a track and field athlete he hold two schools records with a 6'8" high jump and a 22'1/2" long jump. So college coaches, be on the look-out for the explosive edge rusher this coming fall, as he is someone that most likely will rise in our rankings in time.     The 6-foot-2, 185 pound Farr is a multi-sport athlete that helped lead the Indians to a 7-3-1 record this past fall. With the graduation of Ke'Veon Ruiz, look for Farr to be one of the main players stepping up into the leadership role.   He excels on both sides of the ball but it is on the offensive side where he put up the biggest contribution this past season. He had 150 carries for 788 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. Good enough for a 5.3 yards per carry throughout the season. He also chipped in six receptions for 114 yards as a receiver.   On the defensive side of the ball he showed his explosiveness by registering 30 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks from his linebacker position.   He was honored as a Honorable Mention All-Central Plains League performer at running back. Also a key contributor on Medicine Lodge's talented basketball team.     With the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id='1236067' first='Owen' last='Kaiser'] (Barton CC Baseball signee) the 9-1 Panthers are looking for new leadership upfront this coming fall.   All-State linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1083225' first='Trenton' last='Kern'] will be a big part of the offensive line from his tackle position but it may be the 6-foot-0, 280 pound Brown that leads the hogs up front from his center position.   The Second Team All-Western Athletic Conference honoree brings good size and strength and only finished second in the conference awards to 4-Star center [player_tooltip player_id='944909' first='Gus' last='Corsair'] of Hays.   If Great Bend is to take that next step and win the 5A State Title, it will be because players like Brown helped lead the way for all of the Panthers elite play makers lead by possibly up to three D-I playmakers in Kern, [player_tooltip player_id='1229117' first='Ian' last='Premer'] and Cooper Onmacht.     The Lakin Broncs are looking to built upon their 6-3 record that say them fall short to Halstead in the 2A state playoffs. Even with graduation of linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='390291' first='Colter' last='Oldham'], the defensive front should be in great hands with Bemis and defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1325116' first='Norian' last='Cantu'].   He not only starred as a defensive end where he picked up Second Team All-Hi Plains League honors but was also a First Team honoree from his offensive tackle position.   On defense he showed his explosiveness and big play making abilities by making 44 tackles (19 solo and 25 assisted) but a staggering 8.0 sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss.   Once Bemis continues to fill out his 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame, he should really catch the attention of college recruiters in due time as a pass rush specialist.     The 6-foot-2, 220-pound rush end is looking to help lead back the Indians to the 5A State Championship game this coming fall.   Loving brings a good frame for college coaches to work with as a he fills out his body further in the strength department. Possessing a 6-foot-7 wingspan, he shows the ability to use his length and reach to be an effective pass rusher.   This past fall he had 26 tackles (11 solo and 15 assisted), 3.0 sacks and 3.0 tackles for loss.   With the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id='1115502' first='Wyatt' last='Kirkpatrick'] (Fort Hays State signee), Loving and fellow defensive line mate [player_tooltip player_id='944910' first='Tanner' last='Geist'] are primed to put up big numbers on the defensive side of the ball come fall.
