Uncovered Gems: OAA Blue Pt. 1

A quick look at a few Class of 2027 prospects in the OAA Blue!   This is an underrated league that always produces a team that makes a surprise playoff run. Plus, most of the teams in the Blue are sleeping giants. These are bigger-school teams that always have a few studs in every class.   Here are five intriguing class of 2027 prospects I'll be keeping an eye on heading into the Spring. I expect every single one of these players to take a massive leap forward!    I love how well Brody fits into Seaholm's veer offense.   You know how Veer QBs go- success is based on reads, and hard, power running. Obviously, this is a highlight tape, so all of these reads are sound. Brody also has a few good runs worth mentioning. His first highlight is a great "pull" read and inside run. Love how Brody was able to hit the hole then bounce the play outside. I'm also intrigued by the athleticism he showed there. 1:12 is another good read, and good run up the middle.   Not too much else to say other than Brody has caught my eye. He has a very similar body type as a few elite Veer QBs I've watched over the past several years. In order to be an elite QB within this offense, Brody must have a great offseason in the weight room, and get used to fighting through contact.      Another 5-quarter player at Seaholm was Ben Swisher. As most Sophomores are, Ben is pretty raw, but could take a massive step forward next season. His highlights at RB mostly show home-run hitting plays, but I especially like plays like 0:56. This play in particular showcases a good, hard-nosed run through contact. I'd love to see more of those 5-10 yard runs on the Varisty level- not necessarily "highlights" but those are the plays that win you games. Keep working on contact balance, power, and gaining positive yards. Ben could be a huge part of the Maple offense and defense next season.      Another great scheme fit- Logan fits perfectly in Bloomfield Hills' pass-heavy offense.   Logan is a little raw athletically, and that is definitely shown on this JV tape. Though, I'm very intrigued by his catch radius and body control. The first highlight showcases a great 1-handed grab on the out route. Then, at 0:16, he shows good body control, snagging a poorly-thrown fade. Logan also has a handful of defensive highlights, where he looks like a very willing run and screen defender- a MUST for Varsity DBs.   Intrigued by Logan's tape. Looking forward to seeing how he fares on Varsity next season!      Another intriguing athlete for Bloomfield Hills that could break out this Fall. His first highlight shows an excellent jet sweep. Athens' defense is caught being over-aggressive, and Jad does a great job of recognizing this, bouncing outside, and outrunning the secondary. The very next highlight, Jad flashes excellent open-field ability. He catches a middle screen, navigates through tight traffic, and turns what should have been a minimal gain into a 60-yard touchdown.   The rest of his tape shows similar things. Consistently good open-field ability, slips through arm tackles, and earns a ton more yards than most people would. I'm very interested in seeing how Jad improves heading into the Fall. Could be a legit breakout player.      Myles' size alone makes this evaluation exciting. His height and length alone make him an extremely high-upside prospect.   The highlights indicate a raw skillset, but by no means do I dislike the tape. Plays like 1:00 show a solid ability to use a move to shed a block then make a tackle. Others like 0:24 show great tackle radius, and all highlights show solid effort.   For EDGE rushers, I'm looking for explosiveness, effort, and strength. Can't be explosive or strong without being in the weight room, and can't play fast without impeccable conditioning. If Myles can commit himself to bulking up while also making himself the most well-conditioned player on his team, he has a shot to go D1.
