So, without further adieu, let's take a closer look at the Monday Five:

[player_tooltip player_id='585905' first='Hunter' last='Higgins'] , 6'5, 245, TE/Edge, Maize South, '26, the Kansas Jayhawk commit is coming off another standout season as a mauling, brawling destroyer playing the edge. On the year he led the state in sacks with 13, while piling up 62 tackles, 11 TFL, and 26 hurries in only ten games. He comes out low and hard, with good body lean and gets leverage quickly before using his size and physicality to overwhelm perimeter blockers. He moves well laterally and has the closing speed to chase down plays on the perimeter or the other side of the field. He has put other sports aside to focus on getting ready for D1 football and is another stud training with Coach Daniels @RashadDaniels12 in the off-season. Get your double-teams ready, this guy is going to dominate this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1593671' first='Jesiah' last='Gooch'] , 6'2, 210, RB/LB, Hillsboro, '26, he put together another big year last fall as a dominating tailback on offense and a run-stuffing linebacker on the other side of the ball. On offense he is a big, physical tailback who is a battering ram between the tackles but once in the open field is shifty and elusive. Last fall he piled up 900 yards rushing and receiving and picked up 400+ yards after the initial hit. On the other side of the ball he is an aggressive linebacker who racked up 84 tackles and seven TFL. He is already hard at it in the off-season and recently made a great impression on scouts and coaches at the PRZ camp in Oklahoma as one of the top testers and turned heads all afternoon. This guy has all the tools, as well as the drive to be elite. He is going to burn it up this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113371' first='Kam' last='Staton'] , 6'0, 180, QB, Pleasanton, '26, he caught my eye midway through last fall and I have been following him closely since. He is coming off a solid season a year ago when he completed 80 of 148 passes for 1000+ yards and completed 55%. In his last five games he fired 13 touchdown passes to only four interceptions. He is an excellent pocket passer who can make all the throws and is particularly impressive throwing the long touch pass. He is very effective extending plays, throwing off platform and finding open receivers rather than default to the run. On defense he is a ballhawk coming out of the secondary and picked off five passes to go along with 25 tackles on the year. This guy is just getting warmed up and is right on the cusp of a breakout year in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='415448' first='Kayden' last='Augustus'] , 5'11, 180, RB/LB, Blue Valley North, '27, he is an athletic two-way playmaker who proved early on he was ready for the varsity game. On offense he is a slashing tailback who makes decisive cuts and with outstanding burst hits the secondary and takes it to the house. He stepped up last fall and showed that he is getting ready to be a standout baller when he carried 40 times for 239 yards and a touchdown. On defense he can play as a linebacker or in the secondary as a ballbuster of a hitter with outstanding closing speed and had 16 tackles for the year. In the off-season he is a standout in track running the 100M and the 110M hurdles. In the spring he is playing with Building Champions Elite in 7v7. This guy is going to be en fuego this fall

[player_tooltip player_id='934072' first='Holden' last='Applebee'] , 6'0”, 160, QB, Mill Valley, ‘27, he is coming off a learning season as an understudy quarterback on powerhouse Mill Valley, backing up a senior who will be moving on to play on Saturdays. The Jaguars suffered a rare playoff loss last year, but will be in good hands with this young gunslinger. He only got enough action to throw a couple varsity passes a year ago, but he has great dual-threat game and can throw the ball. He can make passes at all the levels, from quick strikes to deep posts and hits the long ball in stride. He has a compact throwing motion with a quick release and elite ball placement. A slippery, elusive runner, he expertly extends plays and throws well on the move. Get your popcorn ready, this guy is going to put on a show in 2025.

In conclusion, if you like all-around athletic play and excellence at multiple positions get out and see these guys in action this fall. You will not be disappointed. And, as always, if you run across a player or team flying under the radar give me a shout via DM on X. Keep grindin'…
