Patrick Mix has been a WR who has flown under the radar over the last 2 seasons despite starting on varsity for Camden, but he was by far the best player from this group on Sunday. Mix showed impressive top-end speed on his routes, and despite his shorter size, he could get up vertical to catch a high pass pretty well. One play in particular that caught my eye was when he ran a skinny post which shot high, in which he bent his route vertically to reach the point of the ball and make the catch, which was one of the best routes that I saw a WR make during the entire showcase. Patrick Mix generated buzz among all of our scouts, and he's a player that we'll keep a close eye on this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1205643' first='Mason' last='Helland'] didn't just impress our scouts, but was picked among the 612Q's coaches as one of the best performers through the entire showcase on Sunday. Helland really made a great impact on the field that spoke for itself. Helland burst out of the snap and made quick cuts on his routes, and he was catching nearly every pass that was thrown his way. Helland took snaps in both the slot and on the outside, and I was impressed with how well he was playing in both areas. The recognition that was given to him as one of the top performers of the showcase speaks volumes to how impressively talented Helland is on the field, and I'm intrigued of how that will translate for Byron's offense this season.

The biggest sleeper within this group was Aiden Peterson, and I was really impressed with how well he played during this camp. Playing predominantly in the slot, Peterson may have been the most efficient receiver among this group, as he caught almost everything that was thrown his way. Peterson shows a great burst on his breaks, adjusts to the ball well, and he showed that he can go up to make some great catches in the air. Peterson should get an opportunity in 2025 to compete for a role in the starting lineup for Burnsville with the progress he's making this offseason.

After finishing 2nd in receiving yards for the Bison as a junior, [player_tooltip player_id='1248632' first='Hendrix' last='Gatz'] enters 2025 looking to build himself as a legitimate offensive threat. Gatz has done a good job so far, and he looked very sharp on Sunday. Gatz showed great body control and vertical ability to go up to make the catch. Gatz has great hands, and he played efficiently lined up both outside and in the slot. Gatz and his QB [player_tooltip player_id='1201408' first='Grant' last='Benson'] both stood out during camp, and it will be interesting watching their chemistry in Buffalo's passing game progress in 2025.

With how he played on Sunday, [player_tooltip player_id='1626170' first='Tyson' last='Reynolds'] will be a name to watch as a potential breakout candidate for Lakeville North's offense in 2025. Reynolds has a great frame and length for his age that made him look like a varsity-level starter among this group. Reynolds excelled in particular on the vertical routes, doing a great job and adjusting to the ball to make the catch. Reynolds is certainly progressing quickly, and in turn could see a boost upwards in our rankings by the end of this season.

Tate Prinsen caught a lot of passes on the defensive side of the ball last season, recording 7 interceptions, but he made a strong case on Sunday displaying his potential as a top WR as well. Prinsen got off to a slow start, but he quickly found his footing and played extremely well throughout the showcase. Prinsen did an exceptional job on the comeback and vertical routes, where he showed his length and sharp cuts when running those routes. Prinsen's performance should solidify him as a viable two-way threat going forward for St. Paul Como Park.

Jackson Onell immediately caught my attention as one of the tallest receivers in this showcase, and he already has an impressive wingspan entering his junior season. Onell showed a solid level of athleticism with a solid combination of speed and vertical ability that helped him succeed on the outside throughout the showcase, and he played well on the deep go routes by using his length to catch the longer throws. Onell is a promising athlete that has the size and raw potential to be a great player. He took reps at QB last season for Watertown Mayer, and his role with the team going forward will be intriguing. Watertown Mayer could switch Onell to a WR/TE role to best capitalize off his potential.
