2028 Rankings Update- Alabama's Top 5 Prospects

Welcome to the launch of our new 2028 Rankings!   We have some incredibly talented prospects in this class to show y'all, and to start, here are our Top 5!   As always, check out their tape from last fall below- you won't want to miss out on these guys!    [player_tooltip player_id='1354216' first='Kingston' last='Preyear'] is coming off a dominant freshman season for Montgomery Catholic where he led his team to a state title win and made a name for himself as one of the top 2028 QBs in the country. Preyear has unreal arm talent and can place the ball anywhere on the field- he has a strong arm, can throw with a lot of touch and accuracy, and hits his targets perfectly in stride downfield. Preyear is also terrific at navigating the pocket- he's elusive and doesn't let pressure get to him, can extend plays and make throws on the run, and is great at not taking sacks. Another impressive part of Preyear's tape is his mobility- he can create huge plays with his legs. On tape he frequently carved up defenses for big gains off of zone reads and just by scrambling, he's a seriously dynamic QB who can truly beat you in every way. Preyear had a terrific season last fall for Montgomery Catholic, winning his team a state championship and ending his freshman campaign with 94/135 passing attempts for 1787 yards and 20 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions. Since last fall, Preyear has seen his recruitment take off- picking up offers from Houston, Ole Miss, Georgia State, and more. I can't wait to see what Preyear brings to Benjamin Russell- he and [player_tooltip player_id='401085' first='Cederian' last='Morgan'] will be a must-watch duo this fall, it's going to be fun to watch!      [player_tooltip player_id='1205371' first='Demarcus' last='Brown'] was an incredibly important piece of Williamson's defensive front as a freshman last fall, dominating the line of scrimmage and coming up with huge stops all season long. Brown is a star in the making- book it now. He plays with terrific speed, leverage, and strength that allow him to fly by blockers and come up with huge plays for loss in the backfield seemingly every snap. Whether it's against the run or pass, Brown flies off the line of scrimmage, fights off multiple blockers, and does whatever he can to get to the ball- his pursuit and closing speed combined with his ability to instantly put OL on their heels is incredible to watch. One of the most impressive things I saw in Brown's tape were his instincts and ability to create huge plays off turnovers- he is constantly near the ball and was able to pick off and return fumbles for some huge defensive TDs last year. Brown finished his freshman season with some extremely impressive stats, ending the year with 90 total tackles (46 solo, 29 for loss), 10 sacks, 20 hurries, 3 fumble recoveries, and one interception. Since his dominant debut last fall, Brown has blown up in the recruiting world- picking up offers from Penn State, Vanderbilt, Jacksonville State, and more. Be sure to watch out for Brown going forward, he's an unbelievable talent set to dominate the state for the rest of his career.      [player_tooltip player_id='1621006' first='Dedrick' last='Kimbrough'] is an incredibly talented WR coming out of Thompson who everyone should get to know- he was terrific out wide last season and is going to dominate the state for years to come. Kimbrough is a complete WR with a ton of talent already as an underclassman- he has great size, plays with a ton of speed, and has an incredibly reliable set of hands he uses to make unbelievable catches all around the field. Kimbrough is already a massive threat out wide- he's a smooth route runner who gains tons of separation at every level of the field and can also make ridiculous plays through coverage/contact. Any ball is catchable for a guy like Kimbrough, he has a terrific catch radius, great body control, and strong hands he uses to secure passes in some really impressive ways. Kimbrough was terrific last season, ending his freshman year with 22 receptions for 390 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kimbrough has already been turning heads at the next level, he's picked up offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, and plenty more. Kimbrough is special- be sure to watch out for him this fall, it's going to be extremely fun covering him these next few years.      [player_tooltip player_id='1624757' first='Darryl' last='Blackmon Jr.'] is another dominant WR who will be on everyone's radar going forward- he produced a ton last season for BC Rain's passing attack and is set for an even bigger sophomore season heading into this fall. At 6'2 200, Blackmon is a massive threat outside who plays with a ton of speed and physicality as a pass catcher. Blackmon is an impressive route runner who can make tons of explosive plays downfield- he gains tons of separation off his routes, has great body control, and secures impressive catches all over the field. Blackmon is terrific at using his size and physicality to dominate smaller DBs- he has a great catch radius, strong hands, and is incredibly hard to tackle after the catch. I was left super impressed with Blackmon's tape- he is already a huge threat at WR and will only keep getting better these next few years. Blackmon was incredibly productive last fall, ending his freshman year with 45 receptions for 638 yards and 7 touchdowns. Since the end of last year, Blackmon has started to see his stock soar in the recruiting world, picking up offers from Purdue, Tulane, UAB, and plenty more. Blackmon has already put together some great tape you can see below, be sure to watch out for him this fall- he's going to be hard to miss!      [player_tooltip player_id='1092251' first='Zion' last='Westry'] is an up-and-coming DB out of Hewitt Trussville with a big future ahead of him, he has a ton of great skills and talent already that helped him put together a great season in their secondary last fall. Westry is a gifted DB who can come up with big stops against the run and pass. Westry has great instincts and is terrific at flying to the ball- against the run, Westry is terrific in pursuit and has also shown the ability to strip the ball and create turnovers. In coverage, Westry is tough to beat downfield, has great ball skills, and frequently breaks up passes- he came away with some huge stops in the red zone and deep downfield last fall. I think what impresses me most with Westry's tape is how willing and talented of a tackler he is- he takes terrific angles, wraps up really well, and is always willing to come downfield and deliver big hits, no matter who has the ball. Westry put together a really good season last fall and has already started to pick up attention from the next level, picking up an offer from Southern Miss earlier last month. Watch out for Westry going forward, he's a really talented DB with a bright future ahead!
