2027 SPRING RANKINGS UPDATE: ATH Breakdown

<p>We have officially released a new set of rankings for the class of 2027 in Arkansas. In this article, we will showcase the 2027 Multi-Position ATHs with analysis. Over the next month, I will break down these rankings by position in each class, including other segments. For the ATHs, I will provide you with evaluations of some of the top prospects and the players flying under the radar:</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Joseph Jojo Accelus is a versatile prospect, primarily a running back but also experienced as a defensive back. Accelus showcases good post-snap vision and burst through the interior. His lateral quickness and change of direction allow him to evade defenders in space, and he can quickly exploit cutback lanes. With good natural balance and leg drive, he breaks tackles and gains extra yards. In the receiving game, he demonstrates strong hands and fluid route running. He can become a RAC threat as well. He excels as a wide receiver and safety. At wide receiver, he displays smooth route running and the ability to create separation off breaks. He showcases good hand-eye coordination, body control, and strong hands to adjust mid-route and catch in contested situations. At safety, he demonstrates good football IQ and a well-developed ability to read and react quickly. He effectively attacks downhill to make plays against the run with good angles or arrives at the catch point to force a PBU. His quick reactions and awareness enable him to play the ball effectively in the deep thirds of the field, increasing his chances of forcing an interception. He is primarily a dominant wide receiver, but he also has experience playing linebacker. Petty displays a quick release due to good acceleration and foot quickness off the snap. This allows him to eat up space quickly and get to the stem of the routes. He showcases good change of direction, balance, fluidity and burst to turn and create separation off breaks. He can work the full field with smooth route running and good hand-eye coordination. He lands at number 22 for his position (ATH). He<em> </em>excels as both a tight end and linebacker, demonstrating his good size and solid athletic ability. At tight end, he demonstrates a solid release off the LOS due to solid acceleration and foot quickness. Good hand-eye coordination and strong hands to win against contest. In addition, he has the ability to be a threat after the catch due to his good contact balance and burst. At linebacker, Hixson demonstrates his sideline-to-sideline ability with good physicality at the point of attack. He shows a solid understanding of zone coverage and possesses solid lateral agility.
