Taking a quick jump into the 2027 film room by breaking down film on some under-the-radar prospects that you should start watching now. These prospects have either established themselves as legit prospects and are on the verge of breaking through on the recruiting trail and we have some that are set to take a big leap in 2025.

Gilbert's [player_tooltip player_id='1643647' first='Trent' last='Wesselmann'] is a player who will likely make a nice debut in the next rankings update. The sophomore offensive tackle immediately passes the eye test with his next-level size at 6'5", 275 pounds with excellent length and room to continue filling out his frame. When you watch Trent's tape, you see a lineman who can straight up get nasty in the trenches with a powerful punch and a constant search to finish his blocks in the dirt. Wesselmann was especially impressive as a run-blocker, showing nice explosiveness out of his stance while doing a great job extending and using his length to beat his opponent at making contact at the point of attack. Once he has his hands locked on you, Trent does a great job working them inside to gain leverage over his opponent and can use his powerful base to drive defenders off the ball. Wesselmann also displayed great lateral agility which showed in how well he can climb up to the second level to clear out defenders and move around in pass protection. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some early offers for Trent this season (or summer)!

[player_tooltip player_id='1643651' first='Micah' last='Van Beek'] (OL), West Lyon - 6'3" 260 lbs - (@VanMicah28996)

Here's another mauler who I think will start earning some recognition sooner rather than later. In his first season as a starter for West Lyon, sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1643651' first='Micah' last='Van Beek'] had a tremendous year anchoring the offensive line at center. Micah plays with sound fundamentals including good footwork, smart hand placement, and consistent bend/pad level. Van Beek's ability to keep his pads low and his strong, balanced lower body allow him to win leverage battles over his opponent, where he can then use his powerful leg drive to force defenders off the line of scrimmage. Very good lateral burst— I saw some very nice pulling blocks throughout Micah's tape. Aggressive and mean as a run blocker and nimble/shifty as a pass blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='1643652' first='Gavin' last='Roth'] (DL), Carlisle - 6'3" 230 lbs - (@GavinRoth52394)

Carlisle is looking pretty tough on the defensive line next season, especially after the emergence of sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1643652' first='Gavin' last='Roth']. The sophomore defensive end plays with a great motor and a well-rounded skill set as a pass rusher and run defender. I was impressed with Roth's run defense, showing his ability to set the edge while tracking the ball carefully and displaying the closing speed to prevent any major runs. Gavin does a good job keeping himself clean from blockers when defending the run but does use his hands effectively to break away from blockers when he needs to. Gavin ended his junior season with 22 tackles, three TFLs, and a sack. Expect Gavin to take a big leap forward in 2025!

[player_tooltip player_id='1570576' first='Isaiah' last='Daggett'] (QB), Manson-Northwest Webster - 6'2" 160 lbs - (@IDaggett14874)

Manson-Northwest Wesbter's [player_tooltip player_id='1570576' first='Isaiah' last='Daggett'] is a player who I believe is set to have a breakout season in 2025. With both of last year's varsity QBs graduating this spring, Daggett has shown the tools to work his way into the starting spot. Daggett flashed while playing for the Cougar's reserve team, showing a solid arm that can put the ball nearly anywhere on the field including deep passes, into tight windows, and between the seams. He does a good job extending plays with his legs and has a solid feel for finding where the pressure is coming from. There are still some raw areas to his game, but with a summer to iron those out, you could expect to see a sharper Isaiah in 2025.
