Tanem already plays multiple roles in the Cardinals' defense. He plays in the box often and comes off the edge effectively against the run. His speed in the box makes him hard to account for as the extra man in the box. As a deep safety or slot corner, he breaks well on the ball and attacks ball carriers. He does a nice job taking on blockers in the open field and uses his hands well, hand-fighting with receivers on the outside.

Johnson is a physical presence on both sides of the ball for the Tigers. As a running back, he runs with a physical style and will not go down with an arm tackle. Offensively, he is most effective as a lead blocker. His low hips and leg drive make him an ideal lead blocker. However, he can still tote the rock once in a while. His physical play translates to his primary side of the ball - defense as a stand-up defensive end/outside linebacker. While his physical play on the edge stands out, Johnson is athletic enough to operate in space. He already shows a good football IQ diagnosing plays on the outside. As his role expands his final two years of high school, the coaching staff will likely limit Johnson's time on special teams. He will be missed though. he was a demon as a kick coverage guy as a sophomore. He even has a punt block on his resume.

Schmucker plays a physical defensive back style for the Irish. He is decisive when he decides to attack the line of scrimmage. He does not shy away from taking on bigger running backs. Schmucker comes up quickly when he supports the run but is under control. Against the pass, he has good hips when in his backpedal and when he breaks on the ball. His hips also allow him to stay with ball carriers and receivers in the open field, both in coverage and tracking ball carriers.

Fitzgerald played at the tenth grade, JV, and varsity levels during the season. He contributed in all three phases of the game for the Rebels. As a wide receiver, he has good length and great speed. Despite being a long-striding athlete, the sophomore is explosive when he comes out of his breaks. He will also line up at quarterback in Wildcat-type situations. On defense, he can play on the outside as a cover corner. He was 4 for 5 kicking field goals, connected on 25 of 33 PATs, and had five touchbacks.
