Prep Redzone's Ed O'Brien looks at some of the standout players in Delaware high school football's 2A classification.

Josh Roy is an explosive playmaker with a knack for breaking big runs. His highlights showcase impressive speed and vision. He consistently finds lanes and makes defenders miss at all field levels. Whether he's weaving through traffic for a 65-yard gain or breaking tackles en route to the end zone, he can instantly change a game.

Roy's quickness and decisiveness make him a one-cut-and-go type of back, and his all-state recognition speaks to his competitive edge. However, his size will be the most significant question mark surrounding his recruitment. At 5-foot-5 and 178 pounds, he'd have to find a program that recruits running backs with his size. Roy's ability to run through tackles is promising, but showing effectiveness as a pass-catcher would greatly improve his stock. While his highlights are impressive, the sample size is limited.

[player_tooltip player_id='401337' first='Amir' last='Maddrey'] is a strong and efficient runner who excels between the tackles. His highlights showcase a patient running style as he waits for blocks to develop before accelerating through open lanes. Maddrey is more of a "slider"—a runner who smoothly glides through holes with natural vision rather than excessive cutbacks. His ability to shed arm tackles and maintain forward momentum makes him a consistent threat in short-yardage situations. However, Maddrey also has the acceleration to outrun defenders once he gets to the open field. Several of his scoring plays come on delayed counters, a sign of patience and awareness of blocking schemes. His nose for the end zone is undeniable, as he frequently finishes runs with big plays.

While Maddrey's size, at 5-11, is ideal for a running back, the question remains about his versatility. His highlights emphasize his strength as an inside runner, but there is little evidence of his ability to contribute as a pass-catcher or on the outside. His top-end speed appears good but not necessarily elite, which is okay. Maddrey's ability to accelerate through gaps, follow his blocks, and consistently break long runs makes him one of the better running backs in Delaware.

Malachi Hayes shows good vision and patience as a ball carrier. His 932 rushing yards on 162 carries (5.8 yards per carry) and 12 total touchdowns indicate that he is a productive player at the high school level. Still, his highlights reveal a need for more burst and acceleration out of his stance to separate himself from other backs in his class.

Hayes demonstrates good instincts in navigating through traffic, as he can adjust mid-run, cut back, and follow his blocks effectively. His ability to find open lanes at the second level is solid, but he lacks the "second gear" needed to consistently outrun defenders for long gains. At 140 pounds, Hayes must add size and strength to improve his ability to break tackles and finish runs with more authority.

If he improves his explosiveness and adds muscle without sacrificing speed, he will improve his stock as a prospect.

Isaiah Farrell is a reliable short-to-intermediate route target with good hands and quickness after the catch. His film shows he is comfortable working in the slot and out wide, effectively securing the ball and turning upfield. Farrell also has good ball-tracking ability, as evidenced by his ability to outjump a safety over the middle on one of his plays on his highlights.

However, the biggest concern in his evaluation is his top-end speed. While he can make defenders miss in space, his highlights don't showcase the elite burst or breakaway ability that would make him a deep-threat receiver. At this stage, Farrell is more of a possession receiver, excelling in short-to-mid-range routes where he can get open quickly and move the chains.

If he can improve his top-end speed and explosiveness off the line, he could improve his prospects as a college football recruit.

[player_tooltip player_id='1611280' first='Tisyn' last='Witcher'] is a solid playmaker on both sides of the ball, but his highest ceiling at the next level likely lies at cornerback. His production on offense—12 catches for 350 yards, seven touchdowns, 210 rushing yards, and three rushing scores on just eight carries—speaks to his explosiveness and ability to maximize his opportunities. Witcher consistently finds ways to get behind the defense, whether on deep routes or after the catch. His ability to high-point the football and track deep passes makes him a dangerous red-zone and deep-threat target.

However, what sets Witcher apart is his defensive skill set. With 28 total tackles, four interceptions, and two pick-sixes, he shows an instinctive ability to read the quarterback, break on the football, and make game-changing plays in zone coverage. He has excellent football instincts, often in the right place and time. Witcher's combination of size, anticipation, and ball skills suggests he could develop into a highly effective cornerback at the next level.
