With his short, choppy steps, Roy can put his foot in the ground and change direction instantly. This allows him to gash defenses with jump cuts or cutbacks. He can also slip behind his blockers and reappear elsewhere. And once he has a lane, he runs like he was shot out of a cannon. One-on-one in the hole, Roy will convert speed to power and truck bigger defenders. His game is an ideal fit for zone schemes, as part of a committee.

Whether he’s weaving through traffic for a 65-yard gain or breaking tackles en route to the end zone, he can instantly change a game.

Roy’s quickness and decisiveness make him a one-cut-and-go type of back, and his all-state recognition speaks to his competitive edge. However, his size will be the most significant question mark surrounding his recruitment. At 5-foot-5 and 178 pounds, he’d have to find a program that recruits running backs with his size. Roy’s ability to run through tackles is promising, but showing effectiveness as a pass-catcher would greatly improve his stock. While his highlights are impressive, the sample size is limited.
