There are additional items I would like to point about the rankings for this particular class. Player stats play a significant role early in the rankings as does the fact that athletes have claimed profiles. Only a couple of athletes in this class have college offers, so that plays a larger factor down the road.

Small school prospects often are ranked higher earlier in the rankings process as small school prospects have more opportunities to play early than prospects at a Class 6A or Class 5A program.

It is also important to remember that this class is super young and each prospect could pick another sport to play at college or decide not to attend college.

Prep Redzone scouts will provide multiple reports this week on the Class of 2028.

This second report of the day features five athletes making their debut in the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='205592' first='Cameron' last='Akins'], ATH, 5'8”, 150, Wichita East, ‘28

Akins is ranked No. 13 overall. He is an athlete already able to promote himself. He has videos and stats from his middle school days on his social media account. He created his own Prep Redzone profile which also shows he understands the importance of getting seen. Wichita East does not post public stats on Max Preps. He has the speed and measurables to put him on the map. He also competes in track and field and could run in college.

[player_tooltip player_id='1578110' first='Ryder' last='King'], DB/ATH, 5'10”, 155, Blue Valley, ‘28

King debuts in the No. 14 slot. He posted impressive numbers during his freshman season. He recorded 47 total tackles and three interceptions. He broke up eight pass attempts and has done a nice job of providing video highlights and stats on social media. Like Akins, King took the initiative to create his own profile to begin his recruitment journey.

[player_tooltip player_id='1556844' first='Colton' last='Lake'], QB, 5'9”, 140, Olathe South, ‘28

Lake enters the rankings at No. 15 overall. He threw 17 touchdowns as a freshman and rushed for two touchdowns. He is also a basketball prospect and a guy getting multiple invites to compete at camps and clinics this offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='1563229' first='Boden' last='Bell'], EDGE, 6'2”, 170, St. James Academy, ‘28

Bell is ranked No. 16 overall by Prep Redzone Kansas. Bell gets off the ball quickly and brings the wood when he tackles. He is another guy who has already learned the art of self-promotion. He has an impressive video package on HUDL and X. Bell is from a football family and has the game in his blood.

[player_tooltip player_id='1577729' first='Jayun' last='Logan'], DB, 5'9”, 125, Olathe West, ‘28

Logan debuts in the No. 17 position. The Olathe West prospect has quick feet and can play solid man-to-man coverage. There aren't any public stats on him yet, but plenty of video to get coaches a chance to look at him. It looks like he might be busy on the camp and clinic scene this spring and summer.
