A Louisiana-heavy field of teams met in Shreveport for the second annual Louisiana NG7 Jambalaya Jam 7-on-7 tournament.

And the event featured a slew of eye-catching performances ranging from some of the state's top prospects to under-the-radar and up-and-coming players of all ages.

Prep Redzone Louisiana will spotlight more than two dozen student-athletes this week broken down by position groups and recruiting cycles.

Here's a look at eight receivers and defensive backs from the 2027 and 2028 classes who were among the standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1397984' first='Zion' last='Batiste'] — 6-2, 160 WR — Lafayette Renaissance Charter (2028)

The 4th Quarter Mentality national team was loaded with long, athletic big-play weapons on the outside. And while a couple older, more well-known prospects headlined that group, Batiste showed up repeatedly with his catch radius and sure hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='934555' first='Braylon' last='Calais'] — 6-3, 200 ATH — Cecilia (2027)

The all-state honorable-mention standout was one of the aforementioned go-to receivers for 4th Quarter Mentality. Calais played this fall primarily at running back, defensive back and return specialist. And while played the back end of the defense this weekend as well, he was a consistent highlight-reel pass-catcher with good downfield speed, great hands and a strong frame to make plays through contact.

Jordan Coleman — 5-11, 180 WR/DB — West Monroe (2027)

A new name not just to the Prep Redzone Louisiana radar, but to Louisiana. Coleman's family recently arrived to West Monroe from North Carolina. And even in the offseason, he is already quickly making a name for himself on the 7-on-7 circuit with Team Heru Rare with a knack for getting himself open with his route-running and the reliability to catch everything thrown his way — including some clutch scores late in games in multiple matchups through the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1610246' first='Trey' last='Martin'] — 5-11, 185 — Franklin Parish (2027)

The early name to know in his Patriot's 2027 class after his offer last week from Louisiana Tech, Martin was as much of an early tone-setter for the Team Heru Raw defense as anyone with a pair of early interceptions. Martin is a thickly built, instinctive safety who kept receivers in front of him throughout the weekend and showed good athleticism on the back end to quickly close on passes and making even leaping interceptions and pass breakups.

[player_tooltip player_id='1372176' first='Trey' last='McDaniel'] — 6-0, 160 DB — Calvary Baptist (2028)

The Cavaliers' versatile freshman defensive back worked at safety for Team Hero's 15U squad and consistently deflected away deep passes, showing good anticipation and break to close windows in a hurry.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545020' first='Braylon' last='Moore'] — 6-1, 160 WR — North DeSoto (2028)

The freshman athlete already stood out physically with his tall, long frame and appeared smooth in his route-running with the good speed downfield and good timing and ball skills to make contested plays in the air.

Marley Richard — 5-11, 160 DB — Opelousas (2027)

The rising junior multisport standout was confident and vocal matching up against even Team Heru Raw's LSU targets and provided one of 4th Quarter Mentality's biggest highlights in that title-game matchup as he snatched an interception in the middle of the field.

Caden Robinson — DB — Carencro (2027)

Most of the 4th Quarter Mentality players on our eye-catchers lists from the weekend came from the organization's "National Team," but the rising junior cornerback — transferring from Lafayette Renaissance Charter — stood out for the "Legends" squad with a few plays on which he showed great anticipation and break to snatch an interception and break up at least another couple passes to his side of the field.
