When the 2024 season began and first year head coach Teddy Bridgewater took the reins of national power Miami Northwestern, there were questions asked about the Bulls.

With rival Miami Central in the same class (3A) and a major obstacle on the way to a potential state title, there was some cautious optimism about the season ahead.

From the start of the year, Bridgewater and this young team made a statement that while this program may not win it all in 2024, the future was indeed bright.

After losing during the regular season to the Rockets in a contest that came down to the wire the word hit the streets that Central would have to forfeit all their games – including that win.

From that point, the Bulls were indeed the favorite, rolling through the next eight opponents – blowing through the state playoffs and setting up a Duval vs. Miami Dade matchup in the finals at Pitbull Stadium.

From the start of the game with unbeaten Jacksonville Raines, this was no contest as Northwestern (12-2) ran the clock and came away with a 41-0 win.

As the off-season began, Bridgewater – with the knowledge that he would be back to coach his alma mater in 2025 – left for the NFL as a backup with the Lions, but that did not cloud the fact that this team will be one of the strongest in the nation when plays starts in August.

To maintain that level of play, the returnees in the 2026 (rising senior) class are indeed as gifted as you will find. With those quality players along with transfers who will be making their way in, there is plenty to be excited about.

Among those prospects include Xavier Baker (DB), Anthony Bell (OL), [player_tooltip player_id='1249165' first='Jemel' last='Bonica'] (DE), Savanie Davis (DB), Amir Days (OL), Marcus Dumont (WR), Jayson Farfan (DE), nationally rated J'vari Flowers (CB), emerging talent [player_tooltip player_id='1251765' first='Elijah' last='Hardy'] (RB), Omari Hollis (RB), fast rising talent [player_tooltip player_id='1575228' first='Desmond' last='Johnson'] (LB – 3.7 GPA), and Demetris Jones (OL).

The class also includes under-the-radar [player_tooltip player_id='1800155' first='Nicsaint' last='Joseph'] (WR), Tarvail Mathis (RB), Roderic McFadden (DT), [player_tooltip player_id='1267787' first='Keyon' last='Mena'] (OL), Julez Nelson (OL), Odonis Pierre (OL), elite national recruit [player_tooltip player_id='1206215' first='Calvin' last='Russell'] Jr., (WR), Percy Santos (DB), one of the best quarterbacks coming back in the state in record-setter [player_tooltip player_id='212281' first='Leon' last='Strawder'] and Kenyan Thompkins (WR).

THAT UNDERCLASS WILL BE POTENT

As amazing as the rising senior class will be, the prospects in 2027 and 2028 will be amazing. Among those players to keep an eye on include James Briggs (CB), Erin Cash (Athlete), Tramaine Chapple (LB), Alphonso Clark (OL), Christian Essix (LB/DE), Marquez Fleming (RB), Jeremiah Gibson (DE/TE), Stephone Green (WR), Terance Jackson (OL), elite national recruit Nicholas Lennear (WR), Jacari Louis (DB), Khalid Oliver (OL), Royce Santos (RB), Deyon Smith (LB), Christopher Spikes (DB), Jaylen Thanis (DL) and Remarus Turnier (OL).

With news that the No. 1 quarterback in the class nationally – [player_tooltip player_id='425515' first='Neimann' last='Lawrence'] – would be enrolling at the school – Bulls fans were overjoyed. Add in Christian Anderson (Athlete), Deuntae Gatlin (Athlete), Khavon Gipson (LB) and Kamari Vasquez (WR) and the word repeat is already being used.
