January Recruiting Report- Recent Offers Across the State

With the offseason in full session, recruiting season has only just begun!   Today, we are looking at some of the recent offers that have been flying in. With how these guys dominated last fall, they have more than earned them- check out their tape below!    [player_tooltip player_id='444725' first='CJ' last='Cowley']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/cj-cowley/"></a> is a super-talented ATH/RB out of Spain Park who has made a ton of plays for his team's offense over the past two seasons. Cowley is incredibly athletic- at 5'11 180 he plays with a ton of speed, elusiveness, strength, and power. When he's carrying the ball Cowley has a great burst out of the backfield, terrific contact balance, and can break off massive runs once in the open field. As a pass catcher, Cowley has great hands he uses to make a variety of difficult catches all around the field, and when he hauls passes in, he has elite YAC potential with how well he sees the field. Cowley is a highly athletic and talented prospect who can completely flip the field within seconds- he'll be a hard player to stop for a long time. Cowley was dominant over this past season- ending his sophomore campaign with 121 carries for 769 yards and 10 touchdowns, with another 22 receptions for 269 yards and 5 touchdowns as a receiver. Cowley has had a couple of big-time offers head his way this month, over the last few weeks, he's picked up offers from Oregon and Arkansas- and trust me, plenty more will be coming in soon. Corey Barber is a highly talented wide receiver out of Spain Park who has emerged as one of the top pass catchers in the state after his dominant season last fall. Barber is the go-to target in his Spain Park's passing attack, and is amazing in his role. Barber is highly athletic and plays with a ton of speed and quickness that allows him to take routine short/screen passes for massive gains downfield. In addition to his speed, Barber is a really physical WR who plays through contact, isn't easily tackled, and can use his size and catch radius to make impressive catches over the tops of defensive backs. There are no questions about Barber's hands whatsoever- he consistently hauls in passes no matter how covered or contested and is always a reliable target. Barber was incredibly productive out wide in Spain Park's offense this past season, hauling in 74 receptions for 1429 yards and 18 touchdowns on the year. With production like that, the offers have followed- Barber has picked up offers from Oregon, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, and plenty more this past month! [player_tooltip player_id='1507896' first='Jay'lin' last='Taylor']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jaylin-taylor/"></a> is a dominant wide receiver out of Oxford who first caught our eyes early last fall and has now broken out as one of the state's top WRs in the 2026 class. Taylor was dominant throughout his junior year- he made explosive plays against a bunch of really talented secondaries this year and was QB [player_tooltip player_id='495323' first='Mason' last='Mims']'s<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/mason-mims/"></a> favorite target week after week. Taylor plays with a ton of speed and quickness he uses to consistently beat defensive backs at every level of the field- he's an excellent route runner, gains great separation, and can make difficult catches along the sideline, in the open field, and when heavily covered/taking hits. It was easy to see this all on display last fall, he ended his junior year with 89 receptions for 1436 yards and 14 touchdowns. Taylor has seen his breakout season pay off these last few weeks- he's been picking up collegiate attention from Arkansas State, Southern Miss, Jacksonville State, and plenty of others. Be sure to watch Taylor's tape below- with his talent, he could be an impact player for any program!          [player_tooltip player_id='1471293' first='Kena' last='Rego']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/kena-rego/"></a> was unbelievable last season and ended his junior year as the state's top-leading receiver. The talented wide receiver out of Tuscaloosa Academy was extremely reliable for All-State QB [player_tooltip player_id='1584642' first='Preston' last='Lancaster']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/preston-lancaster/"></a> all season long, consistently finding ways to get open and make huge catches no matter who they played against. Rego is a complete wide receiver who thrives at every level of the field- he's excellent at running posts, corners, and fades deep downfield while also being able to turn shorter concepts like drags, screens, or slants into massive gains downfield. At 6'0 175, Rego has great size and plays with a ton of great speed and toughness- he's not an easy guy to bring down and can completely outrun and elude opposing secondaries with ease. Rego could not be stopped by anyone last fall- ending his junior season with 79 receptions for 1587 yards and 14 touchdowns. With production at that level, teams are going to take notice- leading to days like yesterday when Reno picked up his first offer from Arkansas State! [player_tooltip player_id='566977' first='Tyson' last='Bacon'] is a dominant DL out of Hoover who really found his footing this past season and became one of the top prospects in our state's 2026 class. After we first laid eyes on him earlier last year, it was pretty clear he was going to eventually be recruited at a high level. Now a Tennessee commit- Bacon has proved that. Bacon is explosive off the line of scrimmage, plays with a ton of speed, power, and quickness, and is an aggressive pursuer of the ball carrier that doesn't allow for any big carries on his side of the line. Bacon causes a ton of chaos in the trenches- he can completely overpower offensive linemen with his size and strength and is constantly applying pressure or placing hits on opposing QBs. Bacon had a massive season last fall where he was constantly in the opposing backfield, racking up tackles for loss, pressures, and sacks. With how well he's played Bacon's name has exploded in the recruiting world- just in the past few days he's picked up offers from Auburn, Alabama, West Virginia, and plenty more. Be sure to keep your eyes on Bacon going forward- he's a dominant player and has already impressed a lot of high-level collegiate programs.
