SOUTH DAKOTA-- A lot has changed since we released our 2027 South Dakota rankings for sure since before the 2024 season. With this report, we take a look and what should be next month, some of the biggest stockrisers at rankings update time including ones we are kicking ourselves we didn't have higher.

Gage is another surefire stockriser I like by next month's 2027 rankings update, as the 6'2 200 pounder from the athletic factory of Parkston has great flexibility incoming. The tape shows off Gage as an EDGE rusher, but no doubt this young man shows off a hybrid on tape to linebacker probably at the next-level with that ideal linebcker size already too. Gage consistently shows off intriguing pursuit angles off the snap, and the agile moves quickly within tight windows show off some aptitude too for Gage on tape. He also shows off an excellent football IQ across the tape and it seems like each rep I watch, I see more versatile skillsets coming from Gage. Gage is one that I am kicking myself today for not having higher up our 2027 board in South Dakota.

The upside of 6'2 240 pound 2027 defensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1293073' first='Dion' last='Eccoffey'] is a tape that intrigues me with his great upside. He shows off quickly engaged hands and pad-level for his age, going up against one of the top offensive linemen in the state early on tape and winning the rep with his agile shedding ability and sudden vision you see quickly erupt downhill. He also shows off a ton of strength with those measurables, that can get thru the herd of a double team and still show off the great stamina to finish on the ball with great finesse. You can bet that Dion is a young man that is going to venture his way up our rankings in this class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1287898' first='Easton' last='Eisemann'], ATH, Mobridge-Pollock Twitter

The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers are starting to show off that they have some dudes in this 2027 class, which includes [player_tooltip player_id='1287898' first='Easton' last='Eisemann']. He shows off some compelling fluidity as a route-runner off the first look as you can tell there is some instincts that Easton has that are gearing upwards with his upside. Another upside that draws our attention is Easton's usage of athleticism as you can tell the skills are there for the taking for Easton in teh coming years as he develops. There is also a springy feel to Easton as a wide receiver which intrigues me as a slot receiver. But heck, you flip on the defensive tape and Easton shows off that balance for position flexibility as a strong safety. Easton is yet another small town athlete that has the aptitude to be a bloomer by next rankings update.

[player_tooltip player_id='1293122' first='Carter' last='Sundall'], DB, Wall Twitter

Carter is a 2027 prospect that I had graded last time as a linebacker from the always sound Wall Eagles, but he surely has become a difference maker as a cornerback. You can see a quick generation of the poise Carter has moving from LB to corner as one that I love the upside he has as at that position. He shows off a great and growing ball-tracking ability in teh air and there is no doubt with the constant athleticsm the Eagles have always had, that Carter can surely develop more attention to detail and agile movement with his footwork with a long offseason in current. He also has hit a growth spurt and grown his frame to 6'0 175 pounds as him and [player_tooltip player_id='1235852' first='Younger' last='Amiotte'] show off one of the most intriguing secondaries in South Dakota 9-man football in my eyes as Carter looks like a Saturday talent grade.

[player_tooltip player_id='1212272' first='Drake' last='Mikkelsen'], WR, Lennox Twitter

Drake in my eyes should be one of the most exciting wide receivers in this 2027 South Dakota class when it's all said it done. The 6'5 195 pounder from Lennox, logged nearly 1000 receiving yards as just a sophomore and shows off the top of his tape he is not afaid to utilize his basketball traits to box out a corner to get the edge over the ball. He has all the length you want too in his wingspan and has a more composed athletic frame than some targets I have seen with a similar frame. Drake also possesses the smooth agile movement in tight areas with his breaks (especially in the redzone) like a center or forward posting up in the paint on the hardwood. The amount of basketball moves shown on tape really intrigue me with Drake's upside. I surely believe Drake could be a Division I graded wide receiver out of Lennox as our WR1 in the 2027 class right now.
