As we roll into the 2027 ranking updates I wanted to continue focusing on a mix of ranked and unranked players, as well as positions, with the end goal as always to cover as many deserving ballers as possible.

The class of 2027 is an interesting group with a significant number of future stars as well as many who are already dominating at the varsity level.

With a couple of seasons of challenging transition behind them, these guys are rapidly approaching the critical junior season.

And, if one does happen to steamroll the opposition during the junior season, it usually catapults them to the head of the class getting positioned for the all-important senior season.

In this report, we will take a look at two of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class, jump to a couple of rising-star running backs and then finish with two defensive backs getting ready to bring their A-game this fall.

So, without further adieu, let's check out six guys who will be enfuego this fall:

[player_tooltip player_id='693877' first='Cameron' last='Kruse'] , QB, 6'1”, 170, Olathe West, ‘27, is currently the highest-ranked quarterback in the 2027 class and this past season lived up to the billing. On the year he completed 88 of 163 passes for 1,164 yards, 54%, and 13 TD passes and seven picks in nine games. He also added just under 400 yards rushing, averaging five yards a pop and three TD's to give him just under 1,600 total yards and 16 touchdowns. He is a dangerous dual-threat QB who already has a calm, cool and collected maturity to his game. He stands tall in the pocket with seamless mechanics and has a smooth delivery. He can make the deep vertical and velocity throws or zip surgical strikes in the flat or over the middle. This guy is the real deal and is getting ready to deliver the fireworks this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1113129' first='Logan' last='Fulton'] , 6'0”, 195, Wamego, ‘27, is coming off an excellent sophomore season as a rising-star dual-threat quarterback with a big-time arm. Last fall he stepped up to the challenge, completing 102 of 161 passes for 1,746 yards, 64% and 19 touchdowns. He is another young gun QB with a mature game who can already ruthlessly carve up defenses with his arm. If allowed to stand in the pocket he picks apart defenses with a quick release and great ball placement. He can already make the difficult throws, from layering the ball in between defenders to back-shoulder bullets. He also throws very well on the move and from different arm angles and contortions. With expected growth in the top-notch Wamego program, he is going to be one of the best in the state this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250567' first='Brody' last='Sedlacek'], 5'11, 180, RB/LB, Hanover, '27, is coming off a good sophomore season as a baller of a two-way playmaker who is just getting started. He is an athletic defender, with a strong frame, quick feet and weaponized hands that he uses to fight through traffic and get to the ball carrier. He really established himself this past fall as a swarming, punishing linebacker with next-level read and react skills who flies to the football. As an outside linebacker he storms the gates off the edge or shoots interior gaps like a heat-seeking missile, consistently causing disruption in the backfield. On offense he is a tough running back with good quickness who can pick up the tough yards. This guy is getting ready to dominate the competition in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='491873' first='Arieus' last='Finley Jr.'] , 5'8, 165, RB, Derby, '27, is another top-ranked playmaker who gave fans and coaches a brief glimpse of the great things to come. As the primary running back for the powerful Derby Panthers, he was all gas all the time, gaining 1,512 yards on a scant 150 carries, averaging 10+ yards a carry and scored 22 TDs. The scary thing for opposing teams is he did all that only playing half the games with Derby routinely blowing out the competition. And, although he is well known as a lethal scatback with breakaway burst who is electric in the open field, he has developed his overall game as a blocker, receiver and return man. He is a highlight-reel ready to happen anytime he touches the ball and is going to go scorched earth on the opposition in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='935500' first='Timi' last='Moronfolu'] , 5'10, 175, DB, Eisenhower, '27, is coming off a solid start to his high school career as a smooth, athletic, multi-positional player who can go both ways as a wide receiver or as an aggressive ballhawk in the secondary. His young career has been on a good trajectory so far, particularly on defense and special teams. He is a burner of a kick returner who is a serious open-field threat with the ball in his hands. He can play any of the defensive back positions but is particularly effective as a lock-down corner who can get in the receiver's grill, flip his hips and run or collapse down and shut off the perimeter. Last fall he piled up 42 tackles with an interception and a pair of fumble recoveries. He is getting ready to go off this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1362958' first='Levi' last='McLaughlin'] , 6'3, 185, DB/ATH, Derby, '27, is one of the top rising-star, two-way players in the Wichita area who recently transferred from Rose Hill to Derby. Surprisingly, he hasn't been in the 2027 rankings long, but with his standout play and potential will surge in the near future. As mentioned before, he has prototype size and athleticism for a D1 defensive back and in the standout Derby program, will be taking it to a whole new level. He can play anywhere in the secondary, from a stifling, shut-down corner to centerfielder safety shooting down the air attack. This past fall he was a headhunter, accounting for 50+ tackles and had 10+ pass break ups whenever teams tried to throw his way. This guy is going to be an apex predator in 2025.

In conclusion, don't miss your opportunity to follow some of the best ballers in the state. And, as always, if you know of any players getting ignored, give me a shout via DM on X. Keep grindin'.
