Hayes was a monster that Toledo Central Catholic couldn't quite figure out Friday afternoon. Hayes lined up against every single weapon TCC had to offer and he didn't let much up of anything. Hayes is very physical and can be tough to get through in press coverage. Coming down the field, Hayes is great at using his hands properly while not over-doing it and getting flagged for it. His eyes are great as he swatted away two balls this weekend against stiff competition in 1-on-1 situations. Hayes finished the game as the top tackler for Bishop Watterson with two PBU's as he lead the secondary and Watterson to their first state title win since 2010.

Weatherspoon was everywhere Thursday night, racking up 10 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and a blocked extra point that would be a pivotal play throughout the contest. Weatherspoon shows great reactiveness when getting downhill and landing big hits. Whether it is a running back or a big tight end, his physicality matches that of anyone. As a middle deep third or lone safety up top, he has the range you look for to make splash plays through the air.

Johnson wasn't asked much Saturday to be in coverage as Liberty Center ran the ball 38 times compared to attempting only 18 passes, with most coming on the final drive. His big moment in the game came on a huge play to knock the ball loose with under 3 minutes left on their own 33-yard line, effectively closing down any chance Liberty Center had to win the game. His athleticism and length pose a problem for teams when he is both playing coverage and closing down on runs. Although he didn't play much coverage Saturday, his performance from the limited snaps faced and his overall rush defense was special to watch.

Alston showcased his athleticism Thursday night in the wicked wind and snow. Late in the game, he undercut a slant route to pick the ball off in the Anderson red zone, giving his team the ball back down 7. His hip fluidity is great, and he can play on any ball thrown his way. It may not have been the result Alston wanted to see, but it was his individual play late in crunch time that gave Anderson a shot to win a state championship.

Bruns is one of several defensive backs who had a great performance against Hillsdale Friday morning. Bruns had a pick-six and 3 tackles, but his athleticism and ball-hawking ability in D7 is lethal. He can run with any receiver and makes great plays on the ball without losing discipline. He can flip his hips well and does well at staying on a receivers hip. Bruns is one of several seniors graduating from Marion Local this season, and his ability in the secondary is a huge help to the perfect 64-0 record they will be leaving with.
