Queen City Senior Bowl: Linebackers

The Queen City Senior Bowl is an annual All-Star game in the Charlotte Metro Area which honors 80 of the best football players from surrounding high schools. Proceeds from the game benefit the Metro School, which teaches and develops kids with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. The game is in its 6th season of service to the Charlotte Community. This article will feature the Linebackers selected to play in the All-Star Game.    Antonio is a true EDGE player who can do a number of things – he can put his hand in the dirt and rush the passer from a 2-point or 3-point stance, he can play as an off-ball linebacker and be an asset in the run game, or he can drop and play man or zone coverage as well. Antonio has excellent speed for his size and is a strong team leader as well. Antonio helped lead Kings Mountain to the second round of the state playoffs this season with over 100 total tackles this year.     Jhari is an impressive player that can play the outside linebacker/strong safety/rover type of role on defense. Jhari has very good speed and flies to the football in run support in the alley very well. I am also impressed with how well of a tackler in the open field Jhari is on film. I think Jhari has excellent instincts as well, when I saw him live in person this season he was always around the football no matter if it was run right at him or away from him. Jhari will be able to help a college football program immediately on the next level.     Marquez was named an All-Conference player last season and is having another strong season this year. Marquez is simply a playmaker – he brings speed off the edge of the defense and tackles well in space. I have observed Marquez be a leader for his team as well, and he is someone teammates follow. Marquez also does well in pass coverage. Marquez earned a second consecutive All-Conference selection this season as well.     Ayden is committed to play college football at Davidson College. Ayden is an excellent linebacker who excels at getting to the football and putting ball carriers on the ground, tackling well in space. Ayden does a great job in reading and diagnosing plays. I think he is truly a three-down linebacker who is a major asset to the middle of the defense. Ayden and his teammates have been impressive throughout the playoffs thus far, as they prepare this week to go on the road and take on Grimsley in a 4th round matchup.     Jasha is a player that will be a steal for a college late in the recruiting cycle. At 6'2 & 200 pounds his speed and physicality at the linebacker spot have helped spearhead a conference championship for the Pumas. Jasha was named an All-Conference player last season & should repeat this year. He is a young man who always wants to be at his best. Jasha helped lead the Pumas to a breakout season in their 3rd year in school history, making the second round of the state playoffs.     Edmond is a middle linebacker for the Titans standing at 6'2 and 215 pounds. Edmond is impressive against the run as he can take on, shed blocks, and get to the ball carrier and make strong tackles. Edmond is an effective blitzer and he can drop and cover the middle of the field well in pass coverage. Edmond also sports an impressive 4.1 GPA.     Zion has been a strong contributor to a very good Mallard Creek defense in the last couple of years. Zion is an excellent edge rusher who is showing his ability this season to play as an off-ball linebacker as well. Zion has good speed for his size at 6'0 and 230 pounds and finds a way to impact the game. Zion has an offer from Hampden-Sydney. Zion ended up having 20 sacks and 93 total tackles this season in leading the Mavericks to the 3rd round of the state playoffs.     Camden is a very strong linebacker, who can play the defensive line effectively which is a major asset. Camden does an excellent job of playing against the run – he can take on and shed blocks well. Camden is a very good tackler and is a physical player. Camden has earned offers from Winston-Salem State and Charleston University. Camden helped lead the Patriots to the 2nd round of the playoffs this season and an excellent regular season overall.     Hunter is an absolute tackling machine in the middle of the Cavaliers' defense. Hunter does a good job of diagnosing plays and getting to the football fast. Hunter is a physical tackler and does a good job as a leader. Hunter also shows some athleticism in pass coverage and can be a three-down linebacker on the next level. Hunter helped lead the Cavaliers to the state playoffs in a very impressive defensive performance.     Nick is a very talented player who can do a lot at the linebacker spot. Nick can line up on the edge and blitz very well – he does an excellent job of using his speed as an advantage to get around slower offensive tackles. Nick can also play well against the run and tackle well in space. Nick helped lead the Bulldogs to the 3rd round of the state playoffs as an emotional leader on their defense.     Julian is a 6'1 210-pound Middle Linebacker who has offers from Shaw University and Ithaca College along with interest from other schools. Julian does a great job in reading plays and diagnosing the inside run game. Julian is an excellent tackler who does a good job of not getting caught up in the “trash”. Julian has a 3.8 GPA as well.
