We had a great time checking out some of the top talent in Nebraska and Iowa at the Stock Up Showcase in Council Bluffs. Throughout the showcase, the Prep Redzone crew was busy taking notes and evaluating the players in attendance. After reviewing the tape and notes, I am excited to start covering this event with a few standout players who caught my attention.

Here are six of my standouts from the PRZ NE/IA Stock Up Showcase:

[player_tooltip player_id='1082098' first='Lewis' last='Daye Jr'] (Twitter), 2028 - DB/ATH - PCM (IA) - 5'11" 170 lbs

The 2028 attendees at the showcase were about as good of a freshman group as we've seen at a showcase. One player that really stood out from that group was PCM frosh, [player_tooltip player_id='1082098' first='Lewis' last='Daye Jr'], who plays QB but flexed his skills at DB. As I watched Lewis and the DBs go through drills, I was shocked to see he is only a freshman, displaying technique and a skillset that fell in line with some of the group's older members. He flashes clean, sharp footwork with fluid hips that allow him to flip and change directions on a drop. Daye does an excellent job tracking the ball in the air and is willing to get physical with receivers to break up the pass at the catch point. He is a very strong player who can press receivers at the line with the speed and quickness to ensure he doesn't get blown past. Lewis posted impressive testing numbers with a 4.63 40-yard dash, an 8'10" broad jump, and a 7.72 L-drill. Very promising freshman!

[player_tooltip player_id='1114627' first='Canon' last='Allen'] (Twitter), 2026 - WR - Aurora (NE) - 5'10" 160 lbs

Here's a player who has emerged as one of the top route runners in his class and continued to show that on Sunday. Aurora's [player_tooltip player_id='1114627' first='Canon' last='Allen'] is a very smooth receiver who may not be the biggest target out there, but he is one of the craftiest with his sharp change of direction and understanding of manipulating defenders to create separation. Canon is very nuanced with his routes, starting with a clean release and doing a good job selling the vertical route before making an explosive break at the top of his route. Very good hands at the catch point with solid concentration when making contested catches. A very impressive prospect who is flying under the radar at the moment!

[player_tooltip player_id='1198819' first='Ozzie' last='Grimm'] (Twitter), 2027 - RB - Dallas Center-Grimes (IA) - 5'10" 180 lbs

Stock-rising for another member of a solid Dallas Center-Grimes '27 class in RB [player_tooltip player_id='1198819' first='Ozzie' last='Grimm']. Ozzie showed off his tremendous athleticism during the testing portion, where he posted a 4.71 40-yard dash, 4.03 shuttle drill, a 9'4" broad jump, and a 7.28 L-drill, which all ended as top 5 marks among RBs. Ozzie is a free-flowing running back who can glide through defenses with his swift change of direction. He sees the field extremely well and runs with excellent anticipation. Grimm also shows us that he can be a receiving threat coming out of the backfield, with the ability to dice up defenses if you can get the ball out to him in space. Very promising young talent with a high ceiling!

[player_tooltip player_id='1100526' first='Judah' last='Lock'] (Twitter), 2026 - QB - Grand View Christian (IA) - 6'0" 175 lbs

Very impressive showing for Grand View Christian QB [player_tooltip player_id='1100526' first='Judah' last='Lock'], who is coming off a terrific junior season. Judah displayed the full range of his arm talent on Sunday, showing he can complete passes to all field levels while delivering the ball with great touch. He throws a very nice-looking spiral that he can either loft the ball in the air before dropping right in the bucket or zip it into a tight window with great precision. He had a very impressive deep ball that seemed to float in the air for the longest time before perfectly dropping into the receiver's hands on a deep post route. Lock's mechanics looked technically sound with a balanced stance, good footwork on his dropbacks, steps well into his throws, and flashes a quick release. Definitely a player to keep an eye on this offseason!

[player_tooltip player_id='1105194' first='Louis' last='Welstead'] (Twitter), 2026 - WR - Lincoln North Star (NE) - 6'0" 150 lbs

Easily one of the bigger sleepers in the Nebraska 2026 class. Lincoln North Star's [player_tooltip player_id='1105194' first='Louis' last='Welstead'] had a great showing in every aspect of the showcase, with a strong testing portion and some great reps in 1v1s. Louis ran a blazing 4.44 40-yard dash and posted a mark of 9'11" in the broad jump, showing off his speed and explosiveness right from the jump. Louis also showed off his versatility as he competed with the receivers and defensive backs during 1v1s. I like Louis' upside as a receiver where he can use his speed and burst off the line to burn defenders at the line of scrimmage and stretch defenses vertically. He's also more than just a deep-threat guy, as Louis has consistently shown he can get open on short and intermediate routes. Very reliable target!

[player_tooltip player_id='402147' first='Derek' last='Jones'] (Twitter), 2026 - RB - Papillion-La Vista South - 5'8" 185 lbs

Papio South's [player_tooltip player_id='402147' first='Derek' last='Jones'] continued to show why he is among the top RBs in the Nebraska '26 class. Derek tore it up during the testing portion with a 4.51 40-yard dash, 4.25 shuttle drill, 9'1" broad jump, and a 6.90 L-drill, all of which are top 5 marks among the RB group. Jones is a very well-rounded running back who possesses both the speed and power that projects to the next level. His strong, powerful base allows him to absorb contact and keep his balance as he fights to stay upright. Jones looked especially impressive in 1v1 drills, where he showed that he was just as much of a threat through the air as he was on the ground. He runs great routes for a RB and has strong hands that seem to catch everything his way. Jones' burst, whether when hitting the gap or after the catch, is for real with his ability to accelerate and break away from defenses. Very good vision allows him to find cutback lanes very well while having the agility and twitch to hit those lanes. Should turn command a good amount of attention this offseason!
