GACA Sophomore All Star Game 1st Half Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The GACA held their annual All Star games on Sunday in Macon. There is a multitude of All Star games that took place this past week and my goal is to watch everyone of them. To get through all the games I limited my viewing to the 1st half only. He was able to use his speed and get behind the defense on two long TD catches. Upshaw finished the half with 5 catches for 149 yards with 2 TDs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook: </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With 63 catches for 842 yards, Upshaw led Nationally ranked Lee County in both categories as a sophomore. Tall and lean with great hands and speed, he has already garnered P4 interest with 6 programs extending offers. He took a screen pass 50 yards for a score, weaving his way through traffic. Burns would finish the 1st half with 4 catches for 110 yards and 2 TDs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dodge Co doesn't throw the ball a lot but when they do they went to Burns. He led the Indians with 23 catches for 484 with 6 TDs. A multisport guy whose athleticism stands out. He has good hands, speed and a high football IQ. He has good mobility in the pocket and showed some nice touch on a deep TD pass. A good decision maker on the run and reads his checkdowns well. He showed he wasn't just a one dimensional QB with a nice 11 yard run for a 1st down. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fleming saw some varsity action this season playing behind a Senior and performed well. He completed 18 of 27 passes with 4 touchdowns in what limited action. An active big man that gets off the LOS quickly. Mccrary has good speed and agility for his size and was a constant presence in the backfield. He registered a TFL and showed his "get up" skills by getting up and knocking a pass down. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It is hard to find guys this size with natural athleticism therefore I think Mccrary will get a lot of attention. A multisport guy that not only dominates on the football field but on the hardwood as well. Reiss made several nice tackles and showed his athleticism by picking off a pass at the goal line therefore saving a TD. He had 70 TT at the varsity level this season and also added 7 TFL with 2 FF. The 23rd Ranked RB in the 2027 Class had a couple of nice double digit runs against an intimidating DL. Tall, lean RB with good speed that can explode through an opening. He handled kick return duties and showed good hands out of the backfield. He scored 13 total TDs and added 2 INT on defense for the Warhawks. He has excellent mobility in the pocket and makes sound decisions on the move. He completed 4 of 5 passes for 76 yards and a TD with most of those throws escaping pressure. Good velocity and trajectory on his throws therefore he is able to fit the ball into tight spaces. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tisdale had a breakout season this year with the Braves. He completed 3 of 4 passes for 110 yards and 2 TDs. Wilbanks plays with a maturity beyond his sophomore status and does a good job at managing the game. He reads the defense well and has a good quick release. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilbanks got it done this season at the varsity level as QB1. He accounted for over 2800 total yards with 28 TDs and was a true dual threat. Selected All Region in one of the toughest Regions in the State. An athletic kid that was impossible to block off the edge and was putting pressure on the QBs around all day. Lists himself as DL-LB-DB-QB-SS and I can see why. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Outlook</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marshall is a player I definitely want to learn more about. He has the natural build and athleticism to play multiple positions on either side of the ball. He had 60 TT with 4 TFL this season at the varsity level for Westside.
