And now, we take a look at the five standouts from the state championship game. Dewar led the way but there were also a few Laverne standouts that caught our eye.

[player_tooltip player_id='1573807' first='Braelin' last='Lewis'] - Junior Running Back - Dewar

It was the first of twelve state championship games on Thursday afternoon but we might not see a better workhorse performance than what junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1573807' first='Braelin' last='Lewis'] was able to do. Lewis carried the ball an eye-popping 35 times on the day and would finish with 279 yards. And the most impressive part of that stat is the fact that he was never tackled behind the line of scrimmage. All 35 carries went for positive yards. Lewis found the end zone for his only touchdown early on in the fourth quarter. Lewis was an absolute monster for all four quarters and we're looking forward to seeing him come back in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='294264' first='Felix' last='Teal'] - Senior Running Back - Laverne

Laverne came up short on Thursday but we cannot say enough good things about senior [player_tooltip player_id='294264' first='Felix' last='Teal'] as he wraps up his high school career. Teal is a fantastic athlete and has accomplished so much in his high school career. Teal has been a 2025 prospect we've written about quite a bit over the last several years. He is going to make a college program a lot better, wherever that ends up being. Teal grabbed everyone's attention on the opening kick off when he returned it 90 yards for the game's opening touchdown. Overall, he finished with 214 all purpose yards, two total touchdowns and led the Tigers with 17 tackles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1573819' first='Naea' last='Corbin'] - Senior Defensive Lineman - Dewar

One of the main stories of Thursday's championship game was Dewar's rushing attack but don't overlook what the Dragons did defensively. They held Leverne to a little over three yards per carry. They had a dominant advantage in the rushing department because of players like senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1573819' first='Naea' last='Corbin'] on the line of scrimmage. Corbin ended up being one of Dewar's leading tacklers on Thursday afternoon and he also was one of the team's leaders in tackles for loss. Corbin and the rest of the Dewar defensive line did a fantastic job of limiting the Laverne offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1573798' first='Peyton' last='Kilhoffer'] - Sophomore Quarterback - Dewar

Sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1573798' first='Peyton' last='Kilhoffer'] has a very bright future because first off, he's going to pass the eye test at 6'3 and with a rocket arm. Now, the sophomore didn't have to throw the ball very often on Thursday, he finished with just under 50 yards and two touchdown passes. But as the Dragons wore down the Laverne defense with Lewis, that's when Kilhoffer would strike on the ground. And the big athlete can run when he gets into the open field. He would finish the day with 160 yards and three touchdowns. He has size, a strong arm and didn't make many mistakes. The future is very bright for Dewar's offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='901722' first='Wyatt' last='Tillery'] - Junior Quarterback - Laverne

Laverne's offense was limited in the second half but we were impressed with the play of junior [player_tooltip player_id='901722' first='Wyatt' last='Tillery'] from the quarterback position. The Tigers primarily ran the ball but Tillery went 5-7 for 52 yards and also added 37 yards on the ground. It was a tough championship game for the Tigers as a whole but the future is bright for Tillery. Moving forward, having a player that has experience like Tillery has will definitely benefit the Tigers in a post-Teal world and that will start in 2025. Tillery is now on our radar and we're looking froward to seeing what he can do during his senior season next year.
