CFI Winter Showcase: Top Quarterbacks

The Charlotte Football Insiders (CFI) Winter Showcase hosted over 150 players - primarily juniors and seniors - on Saturday, December 7th at Rocky River High School. The purpose of the CFI Winter Showcase is to place kids in front of as many college football coaches as possible. Coaches from Johnson C. Smith, Benedict, Allen, Brevard, Carson-Newman, Winston-Salem State, Erskine, & others came to evaluate players in person. Top performers were named at each position for the showcase - this article will focus on the top quarterbacks named at the event.    Chance is coming off of a strong junior season where he had over 2900 yards of total offense, threw 19 touchdowns, and had a 71 percent completion percentage. Chance was the leading passer in the So Meck Conference, and was also an All-Conference selection. I have been impressed with how Chance can make tough throws in critical situations, and how he bounces back from when he makes mistakes on the field. Chance is poised to have a strong senior season.     Zacobi really performed well at this showcase, showing a strong arm and good fundamentals throughout. His accuracy and ball placement during 1 on 1 drills was consistent, and he is someone who could be a steal late in the recruiting process. Zacobi doesn't have a lot of film from his senior year, but his junior film shows some promise as a player who can stand and deliver in the pocket when given time to do so.     Cameron had a good sophomore season as a starting quarterback, and area coaches think he has a bright future ahead of him. I like Cameron's fundamentals - he has a nice delivery of the football with a smooth motion. Cameron has good footwork for a sophomore, and he simply just needs more reps to continue to develop and get better going into his junior year.     Davian has done a good job in leading a strong Cuthbertson program to a good season out in Union County. His head coach was Sam Howell"s offensive coordinator when he was in high school, so he has a great mentor to continue his development going forward. Davian is a hard work and has a strong physical build overall, which helps him deliver the football with good arm strength. His confidence in getting the ball out on time with good mechanics was impressive.     The left-handed junior signal caller had a good junior season where he developed exponentially from the start of the season. TJ was named 2nd team All-Conference for his performance this year, and you can tell he is coached very well. TJ's mechanics were almost perfect - he was captured on camera on multiple throws and his ball position and arm angles were right where they should be on multiple occasions. I am excited to see how he performs next season.     Ka'Liel came into this showcase as a bit of an under-the-radar prospect, but I saw him over the summer in some 7 on 7 action, and he has a good throwing form. I thought he had a very good day during 1 on 1s especially - it seemed like he developed a quick chemistry with a couple of receivers in attendance. Ka'Liel consistently put the ball in the right place to give his receivers a chance. He made some good plays on his senior film as well, he deserves a look from college coaches in my opinion.
