CFI Winter Showcase: Top Offensive Linemen

The Charlotte Football Insiders (CFI) Winter Showcase hosted over 150 players – primarily juniors and seniors – on Saturday, December 7th at Rocky River High School. The purpose of the CFI Winter Showcase is to place kids in front of as many college football coaches as possible. Coaches from Johnson C. Smith, Benedict, Allen, Brevard, Carson-Newman, Winston-Salem State, Erskine, & others came to evaluate players in person. Top performers were named at each position for the showcase – this article will focus on the top offensive linemen named at the event.    Andrew showed once again why he is a ranked offensive lineman in the state of North Carolina. He had good pass protection reps against interior defensive linemen from his guard position in 1 on 1's. He doesn't give ground in pass protection on film against bullrushes, and in the running game he can get 2nd level and cutoff linebackers well. The camp settings are important for Andrew as the South Point offense is a very run-heavy system.     If there was a showcase MVP, Kolbe would have been it. Because of his performance at the showcase, Kolbe picked up offers from Johnson C. Smith, Benedict, and Allen Universities on the day. Kolbe had a strong senior season on film, and he backed it up with an excellent performance throughout the showcase. Kolbe really stood out in 1 on 1s as he moved his feet very well and showed great technique in his pass sets.     The junior lineman has a nice showing overall at this showcase. With Desmond's size, he ideally fits as an interior player on the next level, but he has good enough footwork to play tackle at this level as well. Desmond was named All-Conference for the 2nd year in a row, and will be a key piece for the Wildcats next season on offense and as a leader.     Caleb has had a very good career as being one of the main glue pieces for a very good Butler offensive line over the last few years. Caleb's positional versatility is a good asset, however with his size, his ability to play center is a very good asset. Caleb showed very good footwork for his size in going through the agility circuit, which reflects what he shows on film with his ability to climb 2nd level and block well in space in the running game.     With offers from St. Andrews, Minnesota West, and Virginia-Lynchburg University , Sedecka has some recruiting juice behind him. And the main reason why is you simply can't teach size. You could see coaches get excited when they see the physical potential Sedecka possesses as a prospect. Sedecka moves well for his size, and projects as a tackle or a guard on the next level. I think Sedecka's best football is ahead of him as he can get stronger and add weight to help him dominate at the line of scrimmage on the next level.     Jamaare currently has two offers: Alabama A&M and Concord Universities, and it's pretty easy to see why. With excellent size and good weight on his frame already, Jamaare is ready to have a very strong senior year if he has a good off-season of work. He put some good things on film this season in the running game, and he showed at this showcase that he can bend a bit and show some flexibility from the tackle position. Playing outside next year will definitely help his recruiting prospects even more at the next level. He will be a player we watch in our next rankings update.
