Best I Scouted 2024: Tight Ends

The Ashland commit has really taken his game up a notch each season, and he really showed it in 2024. His mix of hands and blocking makes him one of the best TEs in the state. He has great size and is able to use his big frame to win any jump ball thrown his way, and he is a true mismatch for anyone trying to guard him. In the run game, he has great technique when blocking and was able to kick out backers and DEs with ease. Jacob really thrives as a pass catcher. He can line up in line or he can split out wide and actually run some solid routes. He is a big and physical frame that can rumble through the secondary after the catch for extra yardage and even getting in the end zone. He has tremendous size, and already has the blocking side of things down! He could also line up at FB and lead block with no issues. The 2nd ranked TE on our side for a reason, the Eastern Michigan commit put himself on the map early and often. When I got to see him, he took a simple out route for a first down, and ended up hurdling a defender! Despite the flag, it set the tone and put me on notice right off the bat. He looks in every pass, does a great job of turning up and ripping through arm tackles of smaller and weaker DBs. Typically lining up on the outside, he was running routes with great precision, and making difficult catches time after time. When his team got down, they took to the sky and continued to target him play after play, and he was making plays sometimes in double or triple coverage. He's a dynamic TE with a ton of upside. He can do the dirty work, blocking in the run game or can go out and catch passes in traffic with relative ease. His release is pure as he can get off the like quickly and even lend a chip block on the way. He's definitely a Saturday player! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
