Physicality.
This was a tough one, because Jacob is also a darn good receiver. Though, his physicality on both sides of the ball was too good to ignore.
Offensively, Jacob lines up in-line and outside. 1:25 shows a great block lining up outside. Gets right in the DBs face, and pancakes him before there’s a chance to shed the block. Next highlight, Jacob (playing DE) shoves a would-be blocker to the ground then gives another player a hit for good measure.
Jacob’s physicality shows up more on the defensive side of the ball than the offensive side. Still, I love the physicality and it will definitely serve Jacob well at the next level.

Jacob has some great highlights, but zero D1 offers right now. Considering D1s have mostly moved on to the class of 2027, I don’t think it’s likely that Jacob earns D1 offers.
Though, there’s nothing wrong with being a GLAIC prospect- which is exactly where I think Jacob will end up.
Jacob’s tape begins with a couple of excellent receiving highlights. The first highlight showcases a great double move and quick reaction on the fade, while the second highlight shows excellent contact balance on another redzone play. Lastly, Jacob is physical. He’s a two-way player, and did a good job at outside linebacker this past season. I don’t know how good of a blocker Jacob is, but the fact that he’s a two-way player should help his stock.

D2 projected as an X WR, more of a D3 guy at Tight End.
Strengths
- Physicality
- Run after catch
- Play Speed
- Team Captain
- Two-way player
- High-effort blocker
Weaknesses
- Can be more explosive
- Contact Balance
- Route Running
- Size (at TE)
Questions
- Hands
- Leadership
- Body control
Jacob deserves a shot somewhere in the GLIAC as an X receiver. Is already more physical than 90% of high school players, plays hard, and flashes a few great catches at X (watch first highlight)
Though it’s apparent that Jacob doesn’t know how to play X. Needs to run better routes, get a little more explosive, and just rep the receiving game a ton. He could also be a good Tight End at the Division 3 level, but I see his true ceiling out wide.

Jacob is a 2 way star for Dewitt that has a ton of upside on either side of the ball! Jacob really thrives as a pass catcher. He can line up in line or he can split out wide and actually run some solid routes. He is a big and physical frame that can rumble through the secondary after the catch for extra yardage and even getting in the end zone. Hard to believe this dude is a 2026, I am looking forward to watching him again next season!

Last season, Jacob was a key player on the DeWitt offense. This season, he’ll look to build off this good 2023 season.
Watching the tape, Jacob was a good possession target. Lining up in-line, Jacob ran a lot of stab routes and other comebacks. There, Jacob was able to make the catch, maybe run a few yards downfield, That said, I think Jacob would really benefit from bulking up a bit and having better contact balance. Jacob also has a few blocking highlights, and he’s solid in that regard. Lastly, Jacob is also a solid outside linebacker. He’s decently reactive and physical, and is overall a solid role player on D. Right now, Jacob is a borderline top-100 player in this class and shoot up the rankings with a great season!

Jacob is a 2026 kid that I am really high on heading into 2024. What he can do as a blocker shows up very blatantly on film. He wastes no time off the ball getting to the 2nd level and a lot of times matches up with, or just completely out-physicals the defender. He has good footwork and strong arms to be able to suck the defender in and not let him go until the play is long gone. Where I think his game has really improved is as a receiver. He has a quick release, and makes him self big and available. He runs good routes, secures the ball and tends to rumble for some extra yardage. He’s growing into his 6’3 frame and it makes me very excited for his potential. Schorfhaar will be easy to spot this fall!
