Class A had some very good running backs this season with Tucker County's [player_tooltip player_id='1092726' first='Jared' last='Reall'] being near the top of that list. Reall has been a mainstay for the Mountain Lions during his high school career and finished strong with 2,000 yards and 32 total touchdowns. He's a bit undersized but is a very tough and physical runner. Reall looked more explosive and quick this season compared to his junior year and was a well-rounded running back. He showed he has the speed to turn the corner at the small school level and will break arm tackles consistently. Reall was our Class A Defensive Player of the Year as a linebacker, but his size fits better at running back if he decides to play in college.

Speaking of excellent Class A running backs this season, 2025 Wirt County RB [player_tooltip player_id='1228138' first='Brody' last='Ewing'] was another prolific player on the ground. Ewing rushed for 1,800 yards and 27 touchdowns for the Tigers as another undersized but dynamic athlete. Wirt County could spread the ball out through the air this season, so they weren't just handing it off to Ewing every play and made the most of every touch he received. Ewing can consistently turn the corner and will find the sideline even on inside runs often. He showed he has the speed to breakaway in the open field at the small school level and can make defenders miss in space too. Ewing is a great D3 prospect who could likely play some safety as well.

Staying on the trend of very productive small school players is 2025 Tyler Consolidated RB [player_tooltip player_id='1126302' first='Branson' last='Winfrey'] who stepped in as the starter this season for the Knights. Branson is the younger brother of highly ranked 2024 RB Sean Winfrey and continued where his older brother left off this year. He's not quite as big as Sean but still put up over 1,300 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns in his lone season as the starter. The younger Winfrey is a quick and shifty scatback who's tough to corral in space and whose size benefits him squeezing through the line for chunk plays. He could join up with his older brother at D3 Waynesburg as a versatile athlete who can be utilized in a few different ways.

2025 Shady Spring RB [player_tooltip player_id='1403355' first='Evan' last='Honaker'] was part of a three-way running back trio for the Tigers this season. Honaker rushed for 300 yards and 7 touchdowns as their third option out of the backfield. he has good size in the 6'0 190 range and could likely play some linebacker at the next level too. Film is limited on Hudl of his season, but Honaker can get you tough yards up the middle as a between-the-tackles runner with enough speed to get upfield for some chunk plays at times. D3 programs should be checking in on Honaker who is flying under the radar right now.

[player_tooltip player_id='907613' first='Price' last='Strawderman'] is a fun small school scatback out of East Hardy who was dynamic out of the backfield for the Cougars this season. Strawderman is an undersized athlete but showed a lot of juice on film. He's very quick and tough to get a clean hit on in the open field due to his size and change of direction ability. Strawderman has quick feet and can cut on a dime forcing many missed tackles. He has the speed to pull away from defenders in the open field and it's best to get him down before he crosses the line of scrimmage with his playmaking ability.

2025 River View RB [player_tooltip player_id='1583892' first='Chanton' last='Davis'] was one of the leading rushers in Southern WV this season for the Raiders this season. Davis rushed for 900 yards and 8 touchdowns and earned a spot on our Class A Honorable Mention team. He's another undersized athlete but is quick and speedy out of the backfield. Davis is another running back who can make defenders miss consistently and rip off explosive runs. Davis' size allows him to slip through the line of scrimmage or he can bounce it outside and rely on his speed to turn the corner.

2025 Tolsia RB [player_tooltip player_id='1126354' first='Bray' last='Mollette'] could classify as a fullback prospect who did a nice job spelling and blocking for standout sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1154698' first='Robert' last='Evans'] this year. He's a thicker-built running back who actually moves pretty well for his 5'9 225 size. Mollette posted nearly 500 yards and 8 touchdowns at 7.7 yards a pop for the Rebels. He gets north quickly and consistently runs through weak tackle attempts and churns up a lot of yards after contact. Mollette will fall forward consistently and will usually take on a host of defenders before going to the ground.
