11/08/24 Aquinas Institute vs McQuaid Jesuit:

It was one of the highlighted matchups that everyone in Section V wanted to see. Aquinas Institute was able to put together such a strong performance to knock off McQuaid Jesuit 21 to 6. It started with a quick 6-yard touchdown run by RB [player_tooltip player_id='1621904' first='Jeffery' last='Logan III'] on a huge 4th & 6. The other big time run to open the door was by RB [player_tooltip player_id='390760' first='Derrion' last='Battle'] for 56-yards. Battle was able to break a tackle behind the LOS and then reverse field to break through for 6 points. It was an electric run that shifted the momentum in the favor of Aquinas. To end the game, Aquinas was able to return an INT for a TD to put the game away. Aquinas Institute will take on Rush Henrietta on 11/15.

11/09/24 Brighton vs Monroe:

A back-and-forth game that was a thrill to watch with the final score of 21 to 20 with Brighton High School coming away with the victory over Monroe High School. Brighton was able to come away with a quick turnover and then a 1-yard TD run by RB [player_tooltip player_id='527732' first='Gavin' last='Parks']. When trailing 12 to 7, WR Amari Showden was able to score on a 3rd & 4 to go up. Again, Brighton saw themselves trailing 20 to 14 but the defense was able to step up with a big time INT by LB [player_tooltip player_id='1213835' first='Matthew' last='Heininger'] to set up the winning TD. Brighton will take on Canandaigua Academy on 11/16.

11/08/24 Eastridge vs Honeoye Falls-Lima:

This was a super competitive game between Eastridge High School and Honeoye Falls-Lima where the final score was 27 to 24. Eastridge came away with the victory but did so on a Hail Mary in the final seconds by QB Benny Calixto to WR Dwayne Collins. Collins was able to leap over two defenders for the football to win the game in epic fashion. The game winner now has this Eastridge team advancing to the next round vs Batavia on 11/16. It will be interesting to see if Eastridge can keep this momentum going against the No. 1 ranked team in Section V.
