It's kinda, sorta crunch time for uncommitted members of the 2025 Class. It isn't time to panic, however.

More moving parts occupy the recruiting landscape these days. With guys going in and out of the portal, what might look like a good situation for a student-athlete in high school can quickly change when the portal opens on Dec. 9.

If you're still available for schools, it means you haven't found the right one. Do the best you can to identify the right fit for you. Be honest with yourself. Fabricating a good fit because it's a program that provides more status won't serve you the best in the end.

Go where you're really wanted. While it's not always easy to decipher fact from fiction in the recruiting process, at least have your radar on for obvious BS. Definitely talk to guys on the team. They're the most likely to shoot you straight.

Don't close doors. Guys are climbing levels pretty quickly now. You can move up once you conquer each one, kind of like a video game.

Feel free to reach out with any recruiting questions. I may have tips, but, ultimately, you and your family should gather as much information as possible for the most-informed decision.

Also, include me in social media posts containing your season highlights so I can view and share. Thanks.

OK, time to get this party started. Here's the first installment of series highlighting 2025 student-athletes scouted in person or on video. Let's find you all a home:

Full disclosure - I've seen this Miller light teams up in person for the last three years. I get the questions about his size or lack of blazing track speed. Whatever. Put on the tape. His final act was an insane performance in the Class 5A state semifinals. Miller caught eight passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns against a Southeast Polk team that would go on to a four-peat. He also intercepted a pass and returned four kicks for 75 yards. Miller has worked to build up his strength while keeping his speed and agility. Again, he's not a burner, but he's football fast with a great feel for making plays with the ball in his hands. At minimum, Miller is an asset in returning kicks and punts. I would try him in the slot first but his growth as a defensive back creates a versatile profile capable of helping plenty of college programs. Sioux Falls, an excellent NAIA outfit, has offered Miller a scholarship. Others are showing interest but more should be extending opportunities.

Miller's sidekick shares a lot of traits with his friend and teammate. Koller could fit on offense as a change-of-pace running back adept at receiving or in the slot. His athleticism also plays well in the secondary. Koller changes directions well on both sides of the ball with a good burst. He's fast enough to make big plays with good vision to allude defenders. Koller's skill set works well on special teams, too. He's also a winner, who, along with Miller and the other seniors, set the bar for Lightning teams to follow by leading the '24 squad to the first-ever appearance in the UNI-Dome.

Not sure what the holdup is here. Reisz looks the part and produces. He caught 50 balls for 1,034 yards and 11 touchdowns as a tight end. That doesn't happen by accident, especially when he's at the top of every opponent's scouting report. Programs could use him as a pass-catching tight end early while developing his blocking. His 78-inch wing span helps him on offense, but it shines on the other side of the ball. There's potential as an outside linebacker or an edge, depending on the scheme. His older brother, Franz Reisz, is a true freshman defensive lineman at Northern Iowa, and Jozef shares a similar ceiling.

Gardner resembles the other guys on this list in that his versatility and athleticism should be attractive to college programs. His long arms and linear frame looks capable of adding good weight and strength without him losing any explosiveness. Gardner could develop into an outside receiver capable of high-pointing balls and blocking in the run game. He also could grow into a tight end, where the speed and quickness would play up. Outside linebacker might be his best spot in the future. No matter where he ends up, he'll be able to aid a program on special teams.

Francois is flying way too far under the radar for his potential on the next level. At 6-4, 240 already, he gives college coaches options. He caught 17 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns as a tight end that's also an asset in the running game with his blocking. Defensive line might be his best spot on the next level, however. Francois racked up 52.0 tackles (17.0 TFL) with 6.5 sacks. He loves to compete. Francois plays basketball and baseball for the Rams.

Fierce is talented and a team player. He was needed at quarterback this season, and shined in the role by completing more than 62 percent of his passes for 12 touchdowns against only two interceptions. He added 1,220 yards and 21 scores rushing. As a junior, he ranked among PV's top playmakers on defense. The secondary is likely his position in college, but what he showed with the ball in his hands this season makes receiver a possibility. He's another excellent athlete that participates in baseball, wrestling and track.

Scherr impacted games throughout the season, but it was when he reached the UNI-Dome that he shined the brightest. The versatile senior helped the Golden Eagles win the 3A state championship. Scherr rushed six times for 49 yards and a touchdown, and hauled in five passes for 128 yards and two scores. Out of everybody in this writeup, he might have the most room to grow as a player. Scherr could fit as a receiver or, eventually, a tight end in college. His athleticism and agility could be utilized on defense, too. He wrestles and finished third in the 3A 400 meters at state track in the spring.
