The BEST District Finals Performances in D1

The home teams went 8-0, now making a phenomenal regional finals slate. With all of these blowouts come a few excellent performances from the winners. I had some time to kill a couple of days ago, so I watched Grand Blanc's first half against Oxford. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jake doesn't have highlights from last week's game yet, but trust me when I say he played lights-out. Grand Blanc has one of the most pass-heavy offenses in Michigan, and Jake ran it extremely, extremely well. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Play after play, Jake got the ball off extremely quickly, read the defense incredibly well, and most importantly, had the accuracy + throw power to leave zero shot for a DB to make a play on the football. Whenever Jake posts his highlights against Oxford, I'll post them on Twitter. His first two <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/19500023/672efa748c52bf923859f03c">highlights</a> showcase a great tackle in addition to a great coverage play at Safety. That second play, in particular, was impressive- reacting quickly to the deep out route, sticking with his receiver, and executing a perfectly-timed PBU. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>His final few highlights show a couple more tackles. I had one opinion on Rowan during the offseason, but that opinion is changing dramatically as the season goes on. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last week in particular was impressive. His first<a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/18132370/67303d601660b525b226857f"> highlight</a> showcases a phenomenal screen block, where Rowan quickly chips the DE before barreling upfield, delivering a big hit to the DB. The next highlight shows Rowan executing a great release block, completely eliminating the LB from the play. The rest of Rowan's offensive tape shows him continuing to make gaping holes for his RB to run through while also pass blocking quite effectively. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rowan also has a fair bit of defensive tape. His three defensive highlights show that same power that he showed offensively. His tape kicks off with a quick, accurate, well-timed throw. Then, his highlight at 0:20 showcases a superb run, flashing some explosiveness plus 7 yards after contact. Finally, the highlight at 0:47 shows another good throw to the sidelines. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adams has transformed their offense to fit Nolan's style of play. He got off to a bit of a rocky start, but Nolan is really, really hitting his stride at the right time. This week, that viral moment came in the waning moments of the first half when Belleville was already leading 21-7. Bryce launched a 55-yard bomb to his receiver, who then ran the rest of the way to secure the 87-yard TD to end half #1. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='247690' first='Bryce' last='Underwood'] and Belleville ended up beating a very, very good Saline team 42-7.
